Wed 24 Jul 2019 Mrs Bates

Well, what an end to the term...

The children and staff have worked so hard this year and we end the term on a high, despite saying our goodbyes to members of staff and wishing lots of luck to those getting married also.

A huge good luck to Miss Busby, Mr Fisher, Mrs Goonan and Miss Gleadell in their new jobs. To Mike on his retirement and to Miss Thompson and Miss Baker as they get married this summer.

We would like to thank everyone for their gifts, cards and well-wishes and we hope that you all have an amazing summer and a good break.

We look forward to seeing you all again in September. Take care and keep safe.

    Warm regards,

    Mrs Bates

What a great day. Today, the year 6's shared their Leavers show of 'Rocketman' to parents, visitors, governors and staff. It was an absolute 'blast off' and even involved a real rocket. The message of the show was clear...reach for the stars and the world is your oyster. Whatever your educational path, there is a career out there for you and primary school is just the very start of that journey.

I was so proud of all the year 6 children and they shone like the stars that they are. They sang, spoke and delivered confidently and they started the week off perfectly.

Thank you to Miss Marvin and Miss Busy for putting together a great show! Writing a script from scratch is not an easy job and the story line and key messages were just perfect for us. Once again, very proud!

    Warm regards,

    Mrs Bates

    Week Ending 19th July 2019

This week, the following child was praised for the following reason:

I’d like to celebrate the fact that Zara, in Blue 1, took place in Blyth Beach Lifesaving competition in Northumberland last week. She did exceptionally well and clearly she is nurturing and developing her talents through her active body and mind.

She got a 1st in the Rope throw rescue, 2nd in the sea Body Board race and 3rd in the Beach Sprint. She came 2nd overall. WOW, what an achievement, Zara! A HUGE well done. I see you in the swimming gala team in the future. Maybe the Olympics one day!

Current attendance results are as follows:

1st place goes to Indigo 2 for 98.2% attendance.

2nd place goes to Red 2 for 97.3% attendance.

3rd place goes to Yellow 2 for 96.3% attendance.

    Weekly update…

What a way to start the week off…the drumming assembly took place at 9am Monday morning and the place was ‘rocking’ within minutes. I was unfortunately, unable to attend due to a visitor to the school, but I could hear the assembly from my room and it sounded great! I am told that both the children and the parents thoroughly enjoyed the show. If you are interested in your child having drum lessons with Duncan Rose, then please speak to the office team and they will be able to discuss pricing, timetabling and availability.

Following the drumming assembly, the children went off to spend time with their new teachers and class peers for the day. There was a great atmosphere around the school and when I visited every single classroom, there were smiles, fun and laughter! Change is always strange in the beginning, but it is also a good thing and prepares the children for all stages of education and life. Class lists take a long time to prepare and we have worked hard this year to ensure an even mix across classes and that children are with a friend, but also peers that they can work well with and excel around.

On Wednesday, our year 5 children had another transition visit over at Hall Park. These sessions and ‘taster days’ are always a great idea as they help the children to experience secondary school life and also to gauge their thoughts and feelings about Hall Park in particular. During the holidays, the current year 5 parents will receive a letter from the Nottinghamshire County Council about applying for a secondary school place by the end of October 2019. I have personally just been through this process so good luck with your decisions and the application stage.

On Thursday, we opened up the doors for our annual Open Afternoon. This was an opportunity for you to look at your child’s work with them in an informal way and speak with teachers if you had any questions about the report, class mixes or next year. Mrs Jamson and I enjoyed sharing our Vision, Rainbow Values, strategic direction and Curriculum news with you. It was great to see so many of you around school, and we will be repeating the workshop presentation in September for new parents and anyone that missed it this week.

This morning we had the annual Governor Awards, and I am pleased to share the list of children with you, who were selected:

    Red 1 - Morgan

    Red 2 – Jack-James

    Orange 1 - Amber

    Orange 2 – Jake

    Yellow 1  - Max

    Yellow 2 - George

    Green 1 - Rosa

    Green 2 - Abigail

    Blue 1 - Eleanor

    Blue 2 - Emma

    Indigo 1 - Frazer

    Indigo 2 – Charlie-May

    Violet 1 – Callum

    Violet 2 - Millie

All of the children were chosen by the teachers, for varying reasons, and certificates were celebrated by the governors and whole school. I am very proud of all the children … and what a great way to share their personal achievements.

To end the day, we hosted our first annual ‘Afternoon Tea’ to thank everyone who has helped this school achieve its very best this year. Thank you to everyone who has helped school this year. Through your support and dedication, the children have naturally benefitted and I am most grateful of the support from parents, TAs, kitchen staff and helpers this year.

We have three days left to go …BUT…more and more to enjoy and experience!... the Year 6 leavers concert and disco, BGT final, reception parental picnic…and many good byes!

Have a great weekend everyone and I look forward already to another super week next week.

    Warm regards,

This week, the following children have received a Head Teacher’s Award:

Matthew – Green 2 – For continuing to nurture, develop and grow his writing. Each time he writes, he is considering more and more of the content and presentation – both of which he should be very proud of! Super vocabulary, layout and presentation also.

Ava – Green 2 – For a recount of year 3’s racing team visit. She has included key facts learned through asking questions during the discussion and has taken care to edit and improve her writing in checking time. Well done, Ava!

Emily – Green 2 – For her detailed account. Emily has carefully recounted the main events of the racing team visiting year3. She has taken time to present her writing smartly and independently, check and edit her writing,. Well done, Emily!

Aaron – Green 2 – For his independent writing all about the visitors to tear 3. Aaron included details about the racing team, car and took time to check his spelling and punctuation. Well done, Aaron!

    Weekly update…

What a truly busy week…’Aspirations Week’, where the children started to learn about the world of work and what carers and jobs are out for them later in their working life!

There was a jam-packed timetable of carers and jobs …all of which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We saw the following professionals/people talking about and demonstrating their life of work in school…

    • Mechanics
    • Psychiatric nurses
    • Firefighters
    • Musicians
    • Scientists
    • Gardeners
    • Recyclers
    • Authors
    • Artists
    • Super-bikers
    • Archaeologists
    • Virtual reality sessions

In addition, the teachers also ran workshops to provide the children with additional aspirations for the future in the following areas:

    • Food critic
    • Artist
    • Fitness instructor
    • Programmer
    • Athletics
    • Mathematician
    • Cooking
    • Explorer
    • Lifeguard
    • Footballer
    • Illustrator
    • Martial arts
    • Dancer
    • Forensic scientist
    • Language teacher
    • Eco-warriors

In addition, we saw the year 6 children go to the ‘Inside Out’ show, the year 4 children go to the ‘Summer Games’, year 5 visit Hall Park and Blue 2 go the ‘Memory Café’ to sing.

This is what Mrs Parnell had to say about the visit:

“On Tuesday all the children in our singing group along with all children in Blue 2 went to the memory cafe in Eastwood to sing for the people in the cafe. After a fairly long walk we all arrived. The children were extremely excited as it was their first performance as a group together- their first outside the classroom! They had learnt 5 songs to sing and performed brilliantly. The guests were so appreciative and clapped loudly at the end for an encore.

I was incredibly proud to be there with them. They were a real credit to their parents and fabulous ambassadors for our school too. I feel the whole group will now go from strength to strength as we continue throughout next year.

I would like to give a special mention to 6 children who sang a small part on their own. Well done Cory, Elvie, Esme, Emma, Zara and Scarlett - what a super achievement.

Many thanks to the numerous offers of support from our parents too in helping us walk there.”

This week, we also saw children do the Beauvale Got Talent (BGT) auditions and receive their reports and new class teacher notifications.

What a BUSY week! A HUGE thanks to Miss Busy and all the team for arranging such a super week for the children!

Children will be spending time with their new class teacher on Monday and Open Afternoon will take place on Thursday between 2-5pm.

Have a great weekend everyone and I look forward already to another super week next week.

    Week Ending 5th July 2019

What an absolutely fantastic week in school! An array of different activities - all of which enhanced our curriculum and gave the children extra experiences…

This week, we have seen our year 6 and year 2 children go on their residentials. Year 6s visited PGL for 4 days and year 2 had an overnight stay camping at Wollaton Hall. They all had an amazing time and they experienced activities and challenges away from home and the school building. I am so proud of them and a huge thanks for the time and energy that the staff put into the visits!

This week, there has also been an enormous amount of transition starting. On Tuesday and Thursday, we welcomed our 4 and 5 year olds, who are due to start Reception in September, into school. They had a great start and settled well – we think they are going to make excellent additions to the school. In addition, our year 6 children spent a day in their new secondary schools ready for September. I hear that they did themselves proud and worked hard. They certainly enjoyed it.

On Wednesday, we opened up the doors again for another parental event. This time, it was the year 5s hosting their Big, fun quiz of the year and the parents were tested on their knowledge of Harry Potter, Space and World War 2. Lots of fun was had by all.

On Thursday, Year 4 also had a great day taking part in another sporting competition. Here is what Mr Leyshon had to say…

This week, Blue 1 and Blue 2 went to the TB Sport End of Year Celebration Event. We had an incredible time and both classes showed a fantastic level of skill, determination and compassion throughout a very sunny day of sports! We competed in basketball, football and dodgeball events against 6 schools and, though we did ourselves proud in all sports, the football teams from both classes stole the show again! Blue 1 won our group, as did Blue 2 in their separate group, so they met us in the final. Blue 1 came out victorious after a tight final, ending 2 – 0. The team (and, in fact, the whole class) are very proud of our trophy, that is currently spending some time in class with us! Blue 2 also reached the basketball finals, but unfortunately were defeated.

The day also consisted of some coaching sessions (athletics, tag rugby, football and tennis) run by local clubs/coaches, which were also great fun.

    Mr Leyshon 😊

I think you’ll agree that we’ve had a great week in school. Have a great weekend everyone, and I look forward already to another super week next week. Sat results…recorder assembly…singing…last Rainbow Rewards assembly…reports and new teacher news!
