What a fabulous end to a very busy half term. Everyone has worked so hard over the last 8 weeks and we have all had a huge drive to make sure that the children make progress and further their experiences.

Parents’ evening was a success this week and many parents discussed their positive experiences of live in school this half term. Thank you for coming and we also hope that the new school report was informative and an accurate picture of where your children are at academically. From parent voice, there are further steps we can make to make the report even better, but we do hope that you found them more useful than before.

Next term, we will continue to work on further developing teaching and learning across school; looking at ways in which to further improve teacher assessments and thinking about long term developments for our curriculum.

We hope that you have a super half term holiday

    Enjoy a spooky Halloween

    &

Stay safe during any bonfire extravaganzas

A reminder that school will be closed on Monday 5th November for an INSET day and school will reopen again on Tuesday 6th November 2018.

Thanks for your continued support in school. Have a great holiday everyone.

    Warm regards,

    Hello everyone,

A very positive week in school this week. Mrs Jamson and I went on another walk around school and we saw lots of positive learning and aspects to the lessons. The children were all motivated and engaged in their activities and the books really are starting to show progress and developments. The atmosphere within the lessons was very positive and the children enjoyed talking to us about their learning. Confidence is evolving throughout the year groups and independence and challenge is something we are continually developing. What a positive feel to school currently.

This week, you should have received the autumn term report, which will lead into parents’ evenings next week (Tuesday and Wednesday). We hope that you find the new format informative and useful. Any questions then please do bring along the reports to your appointments and the teachers will talk through them during the evenings.

Next week, we will also feature in the Eastwood Advertiser at some point as we officially thank out Greasley Hub volunteers for the £4,500 that they raised for the new ‘Project Playground’. We are very proud of the new playground equipment and we very much hope that this can continue to grow over time. We hope that the children have enjoyed playing on the new equipment and have been able to grow and develop actively. A polite reminder that children are not to use the equipment before and after school for supervision reasons.

Have a great weekend everyone and then we are into the final week of the half term before we break up for the holidays.

    Warm regards,

  • Football Match. Greasley Beauvale v Lawrence View (1st round of the cup)

    Tue 16 Oct 2018

Greasley progressed through to the 2nd round of the cup by beating Lawrence View 2-0.

The game started well for Greasley scoring 2 goals within a few minutes of each other. Liam scored a well taken goal and one was from a Lawrence View own goal. The score at half-time was 2-0.

Lawrence View had a few good chances during the game and Jamie kept us in the game by pulling off some excellent saves.

Alfie was unlucky not to score in the second half with 3 very good efforts. The Lawrence View keeper made some brilliant saves to stop Alfie from scoring. All the players worked really hard and worked well as a team.

Man of the match was Alfie.

  • Rainbow Rewards Clarification

Fri 12 Oct 2018 Mrs Michelle Bates

A reminder that the Rainbow Rewards assembly on a Friday now replaces Gold Book from last year.

When your child is in the Rainbow Rewards assembly, you will be invited with an official invite slip. If your child comes home with an A5 Rainbow Values certificate this is to celebrate their work towards the Rainbow Values in and around school, but does not mean they are in assembly that week.

I hope this makes sense and helps to clarify the new process.

    Thank you,

    Mrs Bates

    Hello everyone,

I can’t actually believe that another week has passed us by already! We have been busy in school continuing with topics and learning, and I am told that the children performed their very best in their assessments last week. These results will help us to baseline where the currently stand within their year group expectations and what they need to do this year in order to improve. The teachers are already busy thinking about what the children need to work on and what messages we will be sharing at Parents’ Evening in the final week of term (Tuesday and Wednesday). In preparation for the meetings, the children will be coming home next Friday with their autumn term report. We hope that you find the new format informative and interesting.

We really want all the children to Nurture, Develop and Grow

This week has been very exciting as the new playground equipment has been put to good use. The Key stage 1 climbing equipment has been thoroughly enjoyed and the children love the new experience. Key stage 2 have enjoyed keeping fit on their new gym equipment and even the Governors could not keep their hands off it following a Pupils and Personnel committee meeting on Tuesday evening.

Everyone at Greasley has an Active Body and Active Mind

On Tuesday, I also attended an Ofsted briefing regarding new changes for the inspection framework 2019. Curriculum design, delivery and challenge is going to be the new focus…how exciting! This year, we will be looking at our curriculum and we hope some great ideas will emerge during out planning in school and further opportunities will be created for our children.

    Consequently, developing Wonder and Curiosity

Last week, I sent out links to Parent View via text, Parent Mail and Class Dojo. Thank you so much for your views. They were very much appreciated and the results were very positive. We always strive to be the best that we can be and therefore, I would like to hear more from you regarding ‘valuable information that you hear about your child’s progress’ and ‘homework’. At parents evening, there will be staff around to take your views as we do want to hear more. Our Parent View is exceptionally pleasing and I am very proud of the culture we are developing that has obviously led to these positive results. Please take a look at our results, or continue to add your views anonymously, at:  https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/parent-view-results Thank you.

Having your view, allows you to be Inclusive yet Individual

Thanks for your continued support in school. Have a great weekend everyone.

    Warm regards,

What another super busy week in school this week. The children have been busy doing their baseline assessments so that we can evaluate where the children are now, and what targets they need to work on throughout this term to reach their potential. They have all worked so hard and I look forward to seeing the progress they can make this year. The results that they receive will help us to predict where they may be at by the end of the year and consider whether they are ‘on track’.

The children really did ‘Believe in Themselves’ and worked hard to ‘Overcome their Obstacles’.

On Wednesday, we had ‘No Pens Wednesday’. It was fabulous to put our pens down for a day and concentrate on the speaking and listening skills that are so important for everyday life and the future. The children thoroughly enjoyed doing their learning in maths, English and topic through discussions, role-play, questioning and debating. No Pens Wednesday also made everyone realise the power of discussion and conversation, and how we all have to develop these skills to further our learning alongside others. The day was also to raise awareness of Dyslexia and the way in which some learners (including adults) do actually have difficulties putting pen to paper. The children also found other ways in which to develop their learning and further their progress throughout their learning career. What a powerful day!

For the day, we were very ‘inclusive, yet individual’.

On Thursday, the majority of our year 6 children (and their parents) may have visited Hall Park Academy in preparation for making their secondary school choices. Last week, it may have been The Kimberley School, Hucknall National or Bluecoat? Personally, as a mum myself, I am also in the same position for my daughter, Maisie, and I truly understand about this difficult choice. Good luck, folks….and remember you have to apply online by the 31st October 2018. Do not forget and end up regretting it.

This year will be about ‘Nurturing, developing and growing’

Project Playground is now finished! I am so excited, as are the children and teachers. We are currently awaiting the safety checks and the go ahead that the children can start their adventures. I think you’ll agree both developments on KS1 and KS2 playgrounds look fabulous and will give the children lots of opportunities to develop an…

    Active body and Active Mind

We are constantly striving to evaluate ourselves as a school; considering ‘what we do well’ and ‘what would be even better if’. One of the best ways to capture this information is through ‘Parent View’, using the following website: https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk. The website is easy to use and the consultation only takes only a few minutes to complete.

Parent View gives you the chance to tell us what you think about our school. We believe that Greasley Beauvale Primary School is a great school, but we also very much value parental opinion and feedback.

Using the Parent View website, all you have to do initially is register with your email address and then you can complete the online survey. The statements that you are asked to consider are around the following areas:

    1. My child is happy at this school

    2. My child feels safe at this school

    3. My child makes good progress at this school

    4. My child is well looked after at this school

    5. My child is taught well at this school

    6. My child receives appropriate homework for their age

    7. This school makes sure its pupils are well behaved

    8. This school deals effectively with bullying

    9. This school is well led and managed

    10. This school responds well to any concerns I raise

    11. I receive valuable information from the school about my child’s progress

    12. Would you recommend this school to another parent?

We really value your views and by sharing your opinions, you’ll be helping us, as a school, to improve. Following the completion of the survey, we can then view your anonymous responses (as a whole-school community and not individually) and consequently make decisions about how to move forward as a school and in which areas.

In advance, I thank you so much for your co-operation as this really can help us to make Greasley Beauvale Primary School an even better place for all the children that attend. We very much look forward to the results and making continued plans for the future.

We really do wonder, and are curious, as to what you think?

Have a super weekend everyone. Enjoy your family time, stay safe at Goose Fair and see you next week.

    Warm regards,

    Mrs Michelle Bates
