  • Community Quiz Update

Fri 29 Mar 2024 Mrs Bates

Last Friday evening, we held our first ever Community Quiz which we are so pleased to say was a huge success!

We had a great turnout of guests and the room was full of fun and laughter.

We also drew the Easter raffle on the evening and all prizes have now been handed out.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the quiz a huge success and to everyone who came to join in the fun!

A special thank you goes out to Caunton Engineering for their sponsorship and to Carly's Chocco Creations and Hilltop Fish Bar for their donations. Events like these couldn't go ahead without the generosity of the local community.

We raised an amazing £1500 from the quiz and the raffle. These funds will go towards school improvements. Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support.

    School Development Projects include:

    - Thinking Schools

    - OPAL School

    - Phonics and Little Wandle

    - Nursery Development

It was so lovely to see so many new faces and people joining us from the community, who had no connection with the children. The staff were amazing fun and the governors were a huge support to the school.

The food from the kitchen was top notch and the ladies in the office ensured that the raffle and event ran smoothly. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who made it possible, especially our sponsors, Caunton. In addition, Paul Day (our Grandad Governor) was the best quiz master ever and his quiz was organised with perfection.

    Jacquie from Caunton Engineering stated:

"I must say, hats off to Paul Day, he did a great quiz and it was a most enjoyable night".

Unfortunately, the BLUE GROUP staff team lost out to 3rd place as they were unsure of the pig population in Denmark. We will scrub up on trivia for the next event.

THANK YOU everyone and Happy Easter to you all,

Mrs Bates and the team :)

  • Head Teacher's Blog

Fri 29 Mar 2024 Mrs Bates

As we end a very BUSY half term, there are some HIGHS to mention...

The newsletter, and WEDuc to parents, gives more information and detail. However, I wanted to share how wonderful the following events were:

    - Easter concert at Greasley Church in Year 3 and 4

    - Shakespeare week and our theatre workshop visitor for Year 6 and 3

    - Easter cards competition in Year 4

    - Easter bonnet parade in Reception

All events were well planned and executed and showed the passion for the curriculum in all areas.

The staff and children have had a very successful term and I want to thank everyone for their time and devotion to the plans made for the children.

This half term, we have also said goodbye to Mrs Bexon, who has made the decision to retire. She has been an asset to the team for many many years and she will be greatly missed. Many children will remember her supporting them for years to come as she lives in the hearts of many.

Mrs Wright will be staying with us for one more week after Easter whilst we sort new staffing plans.

    Happy Easter everyone

    Mrs Bates

  • Welcome to our new intake of Rainbows

Thu 28 Mar 2024 Mrs Bates

So amazing today to open our doors to the Rainbows Nursery for the first time.

Today we welcomed the new 'Rainbows' children (and their parents) for a 'Stay and Play' session ready for them starting after Easter for the summer term.

This was a very exciting moment for us and it was so lovely to see so many new faces.

The children settled brilliantly and it was so lovely to see the new resources being used so well.

We can't wait to open officially on Monday 15th April, when we return to school for the summer term.

Last night, the ukulele performance went very well after school to parents.

Mrs Reeve has been working exceptionally well with a small group of children with the ukuleles and we are proud of their progress and success. The children performed some tricky pieces and showed a lot of confidence.

  • Football Update

Tue 19 Mar 2024 Mrs Pailing & Mrs Parnell

    Hello everyone,

Here is anther football match report from Mrs Pailing following last night's match away to Larkfields.

    ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

Off the back of last week's 7-1 win against Larkfields at home, I had the pleasure of taking the football team away to Larkfields Monday evening, and what an evening of great football it was from both teams.

Larkfields were quick off the mark and played some great attacking football to go 1-0 up. Greasley didn't let this get to them. With great passing from the midfield up to attack we equalised.

Greasley got into the game defending well with midfield and the wingers holding out and putting in a strong display which proved too much for Larkfields with Greasley scoring another four goals. 5-1 Greasley Beauvale.

It's always a pleasure to watch Greasley Beauvale. They encourage and support each other throughout their games, showing respect to the other team and staff too.

I would also like to thank parents for all your support. It's great to see you cheering the team on from the sidelines at our games.

Goal scorers: Thomas x2, Morgan, Henry, Alfie

    One very proud,

    ⚽⚽Mrs Pailing⚽⚽
