  • Choir UPDATE

Fri 21 Jul 2023 Mrs Bates

WOW WOW WOW ... the choir did a BRILLIANT job today. A range of songs were sung to a live audience and I was blown away! The collection of songs were well thought out and I was impressed with the true professionalism. They were expertly led by Mrs Parnell, our musical expert, and the talent was clear to see!

VERY impressive and a delight to watch!

A great end to a very busy week :)

  • THANK YOU

Thu 20 Jul 2023 Mrs Bates

The school day ended wonderfully thoughtful today as the Year 6 parents came into school to say goodbye and thank you to the Year 6 staff team. The group of parents had collectively bought gifts, voucher, flowers etc and said a few words as they too end their time at primary school with this year group. It was a lovely thought and we are all extremely grateful....THANK YOU x

  • year 4 Taster Day at Hall Park Academy

Thu 20 Jul 2023 Mrs Clarke and Ms Mumby

We've had a brilliant day at Hall Park.

All of the staff commented on how well behaved the children were and were very impressed with how much the children knew - especially their history and times tables knowledge!

In science the children conducted a chromatography experiment (picture attached). Ask your child to explain what we had to do and why. In history we learnt about the suffragettes and consolidated our learning around primary and secondary sources. In maths we consolidated our learning on factors and had a go at some 'Gabriel's problems' (example attached). Can your child explain to you how to solve it?

We're really proud of how the children conducted themselves today and hope that they have come home with lots of exciting things to tell you about what they've been up to!

  • RECEPTION RAINBOW REWARDS

Thu 20 Jul 2023 Mrs Bates

This morning, we hosted the Reception Rainbow Rewards celebration. The whole year group were together with their grown-ups as a live audience. WE talked about the Rainbow Values and each children was presented with an award of one of the seven values:

Respect and acceptance – “Being ready, respectful and safe in everything we do”

Active body and active mind – “Take ownership over your physical and mental wellbeing”

Inclusive yet individual – “Embrace diversity and be proud of who you are”

Nurture, develop and grow – “Persevere and take risks with your talents and potential”

Believe in yourself – “Be confident in your choices”

Overcome your obstacles – “Be brave, show resilience and challenge yourself”

Wonder and curiosity – “Ask questions and seek answers”

It was a great celebration of all the children's collective achievements, and so lovely to see so many grown ups. Thank you for coming!

The powerpoint slide show at the end shared memories from across the year, and I think these will be cherished for a long time.

    Year 1 ready, I can't believe it!

  • Year 6 Leaver's Concert - PREXIT!

Thu 20 Jul 2023 Mrs Bates

As with the Year 2 concert this week, I have been overwhelmed with the success of the Year 6 leavers concert (which was greatly supported by our year 5 children with the singing).

PREXIT showcased the exit of primary school and the debate that children often have with themselves in regards to their views of leaving school and moving on to secondary.

There were many songs, narrations and speaking parts, which showed the journey of primary school over the 7 years at Greasley Beauvale.

Some of the highlights that were covered and shared:

     - Value of TAs

     - Business of the school day

     - After school clubs

     - School maintenance

     - NITS!!! :)

     - Teachers battling for the hall time

     - and fairs and PTA events (even though we need a PTA!) :)

The children and staff did a fabulous job, and I know that there were a few tears (from children, staff and parents) and true memories shared.

A huge thank you to the year 5 children and their support with the singing. They have it all to look forward to next year.

The only thing left to celebrate tomorrow is the singing choir....just two school days left!

    Mrs Bates :)

  • Open afternoons

Wed 19 Jul 2023 Mrs Bates

This week, we have led two open afternoons in school across the different year groups. This was the second open afternoon this term, with a focus on end of year goals and a targets. It was also to see as many of you as possible before we break for the summer and provide an opportunity for you to discuss the end of year reports and progress data with teachers. It was also great to see you all sharing books with the children and looking at displays.

There was a positive turn out and it was so lovely to see so many of you. Thank you for coming to support your child and asking some good questions, whilst also celebrating the highs of the year.

I can't believe that we are almost at the end of the year already...how is that possible?!

Thanks again and see you soon,

  • Year 5 Taster Day at Hall Park Academy

Tue 18 Jul 2023 Mrs Bates

Yesterday, the Year 5 children had a brilliant day at Hall Park. I am told that the secondary school teachers were very impressed with the children’s involvement in the lessons and their commitment to life at secondary. They had mature attitudes and came back full of beans and excited about the day that they had received and the opportunities on the horizon.

The children experienced taster sessions in English, D&T, History and/or Geography! They were buzzing.

Thank you so much to the parents who joined the Year 5 team on their walk to and from the comprehensive school. It couldn't have happened without you.

  • Year 2 EXTRAVAGANZA

Mon 17 Jul 2023 Mrs Bates

Today, I watched the Year 2 children perform their end of KS1 concert to the grown ups! I was so impressed with their confidence and resilience and ability to shine in front of an audience.

The children did a collection of songs, readings, memories and narrations. All of these shared their memories, recollections and learning from the year. I was very proud.

The event showed all the grown ups how busy the Year 2 curriculum can be and how much gets squeezed into the day. Also, how much they have learnt, developed and matured.

I loved hearing about their learning from across the curriculum, especially about the 'Great Fire of London'.

As Sophia said, they have all turned into 'well-rounded' individuals, who respect and follow our school rules of Ready, Respectful and Safe and of course, the RAINBOW VALUE

Well done to the Year 2 TEAM (this includes all the adults too!)

    A GREAT SHOW

    Mrs Bates
