Hello everyone,
I am very happy to let you know that our Cross Country Squad ALL ran exceptionally well at Florence Nightingale Academy this morning. We were well aware that the squad appeared to be very strong this year and they certainly proved that to be the case. It was a busy event with each race having roughly 75 runners in-from a total of 15 schools.
As usual, the Greasley children excelled in their behaviour and encouragement to each other and to other children in other schools too. I know that our great supporters were very impressed with the children’s team spirit, resilience and enthusiasm.
Many of our children were placed in the top ten in their race. A special mention must be given to Denny who came second in the year 5/6 boys' race.
When announcing which school had won the shields for the girls and the boys, you could have heard a pin drop as it gradually became clearer and clearer that Greasley was to feature in the top places.
I am so proud to say that this year our team of girls won the shield and the boys came second – pipped to the top spot by only 2 points.
What an amazing morning!
Thank you to all children and all supporters and also to those children who were our reserves for each race.
Thank you to Miss Marvin and Mrs Clarke for running the trials with me.
Wow children – what great achievements by you all.
Mrs Parnell and Mrs Pailing.
