Yellow 1 – Jack-Alfie – for being kind, calm and focussed during Christmas festivities

Yellow 1 – Noah – for always being kind, restful and an all-round lovely chap to have in year 2. He is always smiling and is a true role model to his peers.

What a wonderful festive week and a term that ends on a high. The KS 2 children performed The Twelve Days of Christmas brilliantly throughout the week and we are very proud of them. A super selection of songs and readings, all showing a modern day version of Christmas. Thank you very much to the staff who worked hard in their classes to practice the individual songs. Then, putting it all together, a HUGE well done to Miss Busby and Miss Marvin.

Thank you to all of the parents who made donations for tickets towards both the KS1 and KS performances. There was a total of £483.75 raised and we thank you immensely for your support. In addition, we thank you for today’s donations in support of Christmas non-uniform day. Again, we raised £165.50 and therefore have £649.25 to add to school fund to spend on the children in the New Year. A huge thank you!

Today we say good-bye to Mrs Carlton. She will be greatly missed as she has been working at Greasley Beauvale for the last 15 years. She has decided to work full time in another school within Nottingham City and I think you will join me in wishing her a huge good luck and goodbye.

Santa visited school today and all the children received a present from the man himself, teachers, TAs and myself. We hope the children enjoy the reads over Christmas.

For now, I wish you a very merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. We look forward to further challenges and hard work in January. Stay safe, have fun and enjoy the festivities.

    Warm regards,

    Week Ending 14th December 2018

Orange 2 – Jonah – For writing an excellent description of the naughty elf independently. He used capital letters, full stops, adjectives and his phonics to help with his spelling. A wonderful piece of work, which put a smile on my face

Blue 2 – Lucas – For writing his own version of chapter 1 of Alice in Wonderland! His use of fronted adverbials and overall vocabulary was outstanding and entertaining

Blue 1 – Zara – For deepening the moment within an Alice and wonderland rewrite through her incredible range and choice of vocabulary to create a vivid setting

Blue 1 – Miley – For deepening the moment within an Alice and wonderland rewrite through her vocabulary choices, range of ideas and exceptional simile choice!

Indigo 1 – Maizie – For completing a whole page of work on perimeter and reading a whole book to me. She read using decoding, predicting and summarising skills

    Positive Praise home:

Paige – Blue 2 – for a random act of kindness and saving the day by bringing me a glass of water in assembly when coughing and struggling with my voice

Indigo 1 – Maizie – For having an overall improved attitude to learning and I am very proud of her developments in school and year 5 in general

Well, if you were not feeling Christmassy at the start of the week, then you certainly will be now (especially if you have a child in EYFS or KS1). This week has been the week of the Christmas performances for our youngest children and what performances they were. The real story of Christmas Eve was told through a series of readings and songs and what a fabulous job the children did. Our four and five year old shiny gold stars stole the show…along with the shepherds, carol singers, sheep, narrators, Mary and Joseph and more... A super show and a great thanks to the EYFS and KS1 team, especially Miss Atamaniuk who put the whole thing together.

This week, I wrote out to the parents of Blue 2 class to inform them that after 15 years of working at Greasley Beauvale primary School, Mrs Carlton has decided to spread her wings and take further employment at a school within Nottingham City. We will all be very sad to see Mrs Carlton leave the school after such a long time. She has touched the hearts of many children over the years, and I am certain that many will have special memories of her and her time at Greasley Beauvale Primary School. I am sure that you will join me in wishing Mrs Carlton a fond farewell and good luck for the future.

Another week of festive cheer! All week I have been hearing KS2 practise their Christmas concert and how wonderful they sound. I cannot wait to watch and welcome you in to enjoy the festivities also.

Last week was the Christmas fair, and I am told that £1500 was raised. Thank you so much to everybody who helped (especially Greasley Hub), donated and attended. Such a huge success and all the money that goes into school fund supports our children during their time at Greasley.

One more week to go until the Christmas holidays. A busy week but one full of festivities. A reminder that it is Christmas/party themed clothing on Friday for a £1 donation.

Have a wonderful weekend and good luck with all the Christmassy preparations.

    Warm regards,

This week, the following children have received a Head Teacher’s Award:

Scarlett – Year 4 – for Wonder and curiosity. Last week, she told the class about the endangered orangutangs and she is going to be writing to Teresa May to ask for help. Amazing!

Emma – Year 6 – For writing a beautifully presented recount of the water cycle! The adventures of Rosie the Raindrop was full of information as well as humour.

Positive praise home is as follows:

On Wednesday, I found out about more musical talent and success across school from a child in year 5. Mrs Deb Fox emailed to say that Catherine has passed her Grade 1 musical theory with distinction. She achieved a whopping 96% and we are all very proud of her. She has also passed her Grade 2 piano exam with distinction.

Attendance figures this week are as follows:

1st place goes to Orange 1 for 98.6% attendance.

2nd place goes to Orange 2 for 98.3% attendance.

3rd place goes to Violet 1 for 98.2% attendance.

Welcome to another week at Greasley Beauvale Primary School. A busy one and a week of preparations and hard work.

The week started with Grandparents afternoon, where we opened our doors to over 300 grandparents. This was a fantastic event and one where the adults saw what we truly are about at Greasley Beauvale Primary School. There was an array of different activities around a Christmas theme and there was truly a festive feel. Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed sharing their time with the children during their Christmassy fun!

Throughout the week, I have heard Christmas concerts being practised and it has warmed my heart at this special time of year. The children, and staff, have worked incredibly hard and they all sound wonderful. I can’t wait to watch the EYFS and KS1 production throughout next week, and I look forward to welcoming you all in at this festive time of year to see what the children have been producing.

Thursday after school we had the annual Christmas Fair. I was so immensely grateful to the Greasley Hub who have worked tirelessly over the past few months to organise such a successful event. The stalls were well run, the chocolate tombola was a massive success and the raffle was extremely busy. Santa and his little elf met a lot of children and said afterwards what lovely children we have. It truly was a great festive feel, which was also created by our very own Greasley choir. I had a great time and look forward to sharing the news with you on how much we raised.

Have a great weekend everyone and I look forward already to another super week next week

    Warm regards,

  • Quarter-Final Football Match-Greasley V Mornington

    Mon 03 Dec 2018

Greasley 4 Mornington 1 (Quarter final of the League cup.)

Goals by Alfie 2, William and Taylor James

An excellent performance by the team, capped by a wonderful goal from William, who ran the whole length of the pitch beating several players before smashing the ball in the net.

Some really good performances on the night but the man of the match has to go to William for his all round performance and his great goal.

There will be no more games now until February when the light improves. As soon as we know who we will be playing against in the semi-final, I will let you know.

Training will continue on a Tuesday evening as normal over the winter period, pending weather conditions.

    Regards

    Glenn
