  • Head Teacher Award

Fri 29 Sep 2023 Mrs Bates

Head Teachers Awards to date go to....

Toby - Orange 2 - For showing great resilience to complete his history work to label a castle. This proved a challenge at first, but he took his time to label all the parts.

Jude - Green 1 - For really persevering with his spellings this week. He worked with Mr Smith on a strategy to retain the spelling pattern and then be able to say the word, sound out the word and be able write it accurately. He worked really hard and beamed when he was able to share his learning with me in my office with Mr Smith.

  • Head Teacher Shout Out

Thu 28 Sep 2023 Mrs Bates

I was so impressed today with George in Violet 1.

I sat with George for lunch, and he was so 'Respectful' and 'Inclusive'. He was chatty and chirpy and asked about my day, my week and my forthcoming weekend. He showed real 'Wonder and Curiosity' and showed that he is 'Nurturing, Developing and Growing' into a mature, kind and considerate young man.

George really was a role model yesterday for the rest of the boys on the table and truly embodied our 'Rainbow Values'.

Thank you, George ! I really enjoyed our chat over lunch, which makes a difference to the discussions that can sometimes take place when learning in the classroom.

I will be calling home to show your grown ups how proud I am of you, and how proud you should be of yourself!

  • INSET DAY - Thinking Matters

Wed 27 Sep 2023 Mrs Bates

    https://www.greasleybeauvale.co.uk/thinking-school/

Today, was a brilliant INSET day.

A training day to learning with our Thinking Schools consultant, Gemma, about how the brain works. How we think, store and retrieve information, and how we know and remember more over time.

Very exciting news that this was the first whole-school event, with all the staff, learning about our journey into becoming a Thinking School.

See the link above, on our website, about Thinking Schools.

We look forward to sharing more with you

  • Harvest Festival

Tue 26 Sep 2023 Mr Khan

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Harvest Festival Assembly - Tuesday, 3rd October

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. As part of our commitment to fostering community engagement and teaching our students the values of empathy and giving, we are excited to announce our upcoming Harvest Festival Assembly on Tuesday, 3rd October.

    What is Harvest Festival? 🤔

Harvest Festival is a time-honoured tradition where we come together to celebrate the bounty of the harvest season. It is an opportunity for our school community to reflect on the importance of sharing and giving to those less fortunate.

    How You Can Contribute 🤗

We invite all parents and children to participate in this special event by donating non-perishable food items. These contributions will be collected and donated to the Eastwood Foodbank, a local charity who works tirelessly to support those in need within our community.

    Date and Lead Speaker 🎙️

The Harvest Festival Assembly will take place on Tuesday, 3rd October, and will be led by Revd Denise Dodd, Vicar of St Mary’s Church, Greasley. We are delighted to have Revd Denise as our guest speaker, and we look forward to a meaningful and inspiring assembly.

    Donation Guidelines 🥫🍲

Please ensure that donated items are non-perishable and well within their expiry dates.

Items such as canned goods, rice, pasta, cereals, and toiletries are highly appreciated.

We kindly request that all donations are brought to school by Monday, 2nd October, to allow us to organize and distribute them effectively.

    Let's Make a Difference Together 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

This Harvest Festival Assembly is a wonderful opportunity to teach our children the values of compassion, generosity, and community spirit. We encourage you to involve your child in selecting items for donation, helping them understand the importance of giving back to our community.

The children will also be taking part in Harvest Festival themed live lessons on Wednesday 4th which we are really looking forward too! They will go on a journey and follow the process of food from British farms to ingredients in the food we eat.

We are looking forward to this special assembly and your support to help us make a positive impact on the lives of those in need within our local area.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

    Mr Khan 🙂

Mon 25 Sep 2023 Mrs Bates

Wow...a great start to the day, and week, as we recommenced our singing assemblies for the first time this academic year.

To start us off, Mrs Parnell and I met with Reception and Key Stage 1 and we sang a song to get us ready for the Harvest Festival. It was so lovely to see our youngest children meet with us in the hall. They sat and sang so beautifully and were doing a great job trying to follow the words and rhythm.

Next up, we were joined by Key Stage 2 children. We sang the same song and the children confidently sang and joined in with the round.

A reminder that our Harvest Festival assembly, with Denise Dodd from Greasley Church (St. Marys), will be on Tuesday 3rd October and we will welcome any donations of food tins and packets. This year, we will continue to show our support to the Eastwood Food Bank. Thanks in advance for your donations and kindness.

Today, I also heard back from our two NHS visitors from last week - Nurse Louise and daughter, Hannah. Louise Bramley emailed to say what a lovely time they both had and how impressed they were with the school.

    Some of her comments included:

"Thank you do much for the wonderfully warm welcome that Hannah and I got from both staff and children. It was such a pleasure to see some familiar faces and to also meet some new ones."

"I cannot tell you how much pride I felt to be alongside Hannah, talking about a profession that I love so much and seeing her talking in assembly"

"The schools looks amazing and felt vibrant and I have now doubt this is down to you both as leaders. I was so impressed with the children and was blown away by how well they interacted; especially given you are only a few weeks into a new school year. Year 2 we’re especially brilliant 🤩 "

"I love the pictures, thank you for sharing them. I know some of the kids and parents as I coach cricket and a couple of them had messaged me to say thank you as their kids had really enjoyed it."

"We would love to come again next year."

    Head Teacher Award for today:

Felix - Orange 2 - For his homework on Robin Hood and using paint to create a magnificent poster. This was also expertly labelled with key characters and figures related to this historic story. Well presented and very impressive.

                                 Parent and Carer Testimonials

“Greasley was always my first choice of school for my son, from the moment I walked through the doors it just felt right. You are instantly made to feel welcome, and the running of the school really does focus on the children's individual strengths and creating well-rounded future adults. The staff are always friendly and approachable. I would always recommend Greasley to anyone looking for a primary school.”

    Charlette Brittle

“Greasley Beauvale Primary School is such a warm and lovely environment for children to learn. The support from all staff is great, along with great spaces for our children to develop. The library is a great addition & staff are always looking to provide new experiences. Both of my children have attended Greasley & I would recommend to everyone.”

    Sarah Bainbridge

“The school is incredibly inclusive. They adapt to the needs of the children and are highly skilled with SEND, which means all children feel part of the community. The collaboration with parents means children's needs are always at the heart of practice and decision making.”

    Jess Jackson

“Greasley Beauvale Primary school is a great school. I haven't had any bad experiences here.
My son has additional needs, which are always met by the teachers. They are caring and go above and beyond to help. Transition between school years has gone well with meeting of the new teachers and being given booklets for their new class.”

“Greasley Beauvale is a warm and welcoming environment. The day my daughter started this school, she happily walked into her classroom and has enjoyed her time ever since. The frequent communications enable us as parents and carers to be informed and knowledgeable of the developments within the school. Staff are approachable and supportive and being invited into the school to the Headteacher Award (as parents and carers) when children are nominated, allow the school to be seen in its true form. This made me feel proud as a parent and happy that my daughter attends this school. Every time I come into the school for events, makes me proud that my child is in such a happy environment where she is settled and thrives. The passion from the staff shows what a wonderful school community it is. The rainbow values are clearly integrated into all aspects and the vision of the school, and I support the strengths and achievements of the school.”

    Natalie Astle

“Greasley Beauvale is the most welcoming, warm and wonderful place for my children to learn and thrive. Their ethos of bringing everyone along and leaving no one behind is a true testament to the positive atmosphere that is created by all staff and students.”

    Karla Jones

“It is a safe place where the staff care about my children. Children are well cared for and nurtured to enable them to grow in confidence and enjoy their journey at Greasley Beauvale.”

“Greasley Beauvale has always gone above and beyond to support our Children. The feeling amongst Children, Parents and Staff at Greasley is one of Proud. Everyone works so hard together to keep delivering the best for the Children and Families in the Greasley Beauvale School Community. We feel lucky to have been able to send our Children to Greasley Beauvale.”

    Helen Whitelam

“I was extremely nervous for my daughter, who has additional needs, to start school but Greasley were incredible at arranging transition meetings and communicating with us, every step of the way. The staff are committed to supporting the children, and families, they work with and making a difference.”

    Rebecca Shaw

“Making a decision about where your child goes to school can be an anxious and daunting process, but so far all of the staff at Greasley Beauvale Primary have been really welcoming and supportive as we have prepared for our children to start in reception this year. As only one of us (parents) was able to attend the initial school tour we have been able to visit again and ask more questions, and the transition sessions have been really helpful for our children to start to feel comfortable about coming to school too. So far, our children our children are going into school with a smile on their faces each day and coming out of school with an equally big smile, and we’re looking forward to seeing what their school journey brings!”

    Martine Wheeldon

“Our oldest son has ASD, ADHD and SPD. Everyone, from the head teacher to the receptionists, each staff member are all active in our child’s care at school. Every staff member all treats their students as if they are their own. All staff (including Steve!) are loving, patient, thoughtful and do their best to put the kids first, while they are sadly seriously underfunded and under paid. The staff give five-star service to the children and parents. There is not any staff that I have met who don’t have outstanding character.”

“We want to commend all the staff and leadership at Greasley Beauvale for the incredibly warm and comforting welcome you provided to us as parents and to our child during their first year. Your open communication, fantastic facilities, and broad curriculum, full of activities and opportunities, truly put us all at ease and made the first year of school a wonderful experience for our child. Thank you.”

  • Head Teachers' Awards

Fri 22 Sep 2023 Mrs Bates

Congratulations to the following children, who have received a Head Teachers Award this week:

Henry - Orange 1 - For his fantastic effort in RE. He created a poster all about "Our Wonderful World". He took care drawing his animals and presenting his work.

Dollie-Mae - Blue 2 - For showing fantastic enthusiasm for researching facts about the River Nile to help inform her writing. Amazing effort!

Maddison and Erin - Orange 2 - For exceptional homework related to their topic on Robin Hood. Both girls had visited Nottingham castle or the Major Oak and also watched clips and videos about Robin Hood. They produced big posters to show off their learning. Both were very excited and proud of their pieces. Great art work and writing combined together. Well done, girls.
