  • Football Updates

Sun 25 Feb 2024 Mrs Parnell and Mrs Pailing

I had the pleasure of seeing our football team compete on Saturday morning in the Nottinghamshire Schools competition. They were truly incredible in their attitude and team effort, equalled only by their precision in passing the ball. Below is the write-up of the morning's events from Mrs Pailing the team manager and coach. Well done to everyone involved, including all the parents and supporters who were noticeably very vocal in their support from the side lines! ⚽⚽⚽ Mrs Parnell

Saturday morning saw Greasley Beauvale's football team compete in the 7-a-side regional finals at Sutton Lawns. The team started their campaign within the group stages in all three games the team played great football, our keeper was on top form with some amazing saves, defence were solid and battled well with fantastic runs down the wings and great battling in midfield which lead to some great goals from our strikers.

With two draws and a win we finished winners of our group.

Onto a tense semi-final where a late equaliser came from Greasley who never gave up. This saw us go into a penalty shootout successfully hitting the back of the net with every penalty taken 4-2 to Greasley Beauvale.

On to the final. We took on a very good side from Newark. Again, Greasley stepped up and gave everything they had left seeing us take the lead but it wasn't meant to be, with the game ending 3-1 to Coddington. This meant we were runners-up.  What a great achievement!

I'm so proud of the team and honoured to be part of this.

Goal scorers: Thomas, Rowan and Lucas.

Penalties: Harrison, Jake, Thomas and Henry J.

I would just like to thank the parents for all your support and taking time out of your weekend to bring the team along to represent Greasley Beauvale, the cheering and encouragement from the side lines was amazing.

    Mrs Pailing.

  • Swimming Gala

Thu 22 Feb 2024 Miss Marvin

    Good afternoon, everyone! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

What a morning we had at the school’s swimming gala! 🏊🏼‍♀️

Mrs Poxon, Mrs Pailing and I took 18 of our KS2 children to Kimberley Leisure Centre for a morning of intense competition and some of the closest swimming races I’ve ever seen! πŸ˜¬πŸ˜…

All of the children who came with us this morning did themselves and Greasley proud. The encouragement that the children had for one another was really something special, and the cheers for one another during the races… well, it was absolutely deafening! Greasley definitely raised the roof! πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ🏼

Overall we came 2nd out of the 5 schools that attended and we are so, so happy with how each and every child represented us.

This is the highest we have ever come at the gala, and seeing the swim teams' faces (and hearing their cheers!) when they heard we’d come 2nd was brilliant πŸ₯ˆπŸ’™

🌟 A special shoutout to four of the team who won their races – Seth, Alexander, Ava and Evie – what fantastic swims! πŸ₯‡

🌟 Another big shout out also to the 50+ children who attended our gala trials before half term, and our 6 fantastic reserves – we are so lucky to have such enthusiastic children at Greasley who are ready and willing to represent us so thank you to those children too 🌈😊

    WELL DONE EVERYONE! Miss Marvin

  • FUNDRAISING

Wed 21 Feb 2024 Mrs Bates

Last night, at the governors meeting, we had a discussion about fundraising and donations for the next twelve months.

We agreed that whenever we get funds (from fundraising) and donations, we will save for a year and keep a running total going. We will constantly keep you posted on the running total. Then, at the end of the year, we will share our totals and ask your thoughts (as well as the Governors, staff and children) as to what our collated funds should be spent on to enhance school life and provision for the children.

    These include:

    - Opal

    - Thinking Schools

    - Nursery

    - Phonics and reading

    Thanks everyone in advance

Mrs Bates, the team and the Full Governing Body (FGB)

  • β€˜SEND cuppa, cake and a chat’ sessions'

Tue 20 Feb 2024 Miss Manson

Following many discussions with parents of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), we have decided to host a weekly ‘SEND cuppa, cake and a chat’.

These sessions are open to any parents or carers of children who have special educational needs (both diagnosed and undiagnosed).

There will be an opportunity to chat with other parents and build support networks with other parents in a relaxed and friendly environment. It is always great to know that you are not alone on this journey; there are many navigating a similar path!

This will also be a space for you to chat with Miss Manson (SENDCo) about your child’s needs and what support is on offer, both in school and out of school.

For the Spring 2 half term, all ‘SEND cuppa, cake and a chat’ sessions will be on a Wednesday from 14:30 – 15:15. If the sessions are successful, we will look at varying the days and times for any sessions that are planned for the summer term. The dates are as follows:

    21 February 2024, 6 March 2024, 13 March 2024, 20 March 2024, 27 March 2024

If you would like to attend any of the ‘SEND cuppa, cake and a chat’ sessions (or have any questions) – please send Miss Manson a weduc message (this is just so that we have enough tea, coffee and cakes ready πŸ˜‰)

  • EXCITING PROJECTS AHEAD...

Mon 19 Feb 2024 Mrs Bates

As we start the new term, I'd like to remind you of the exciting projects ahead...

Currently, on the School Improvement Plan (SIP), we are focusing on:

In addition to the SIP, we are also focusing on the following:

    • Emerging School Priority 1 – To become an Opal School, where every child in school has an opportunity to engage in an hour of high-quality play every day (Home - Outdoor Play And Learning)

I feel a busy half term ahead, but how exciting!!!

  • Lowering the Age Range to 3 - It's OFFICIAL πŸŽ‰

Wed 14 Feb 2024 Mrs Bates

    Exciting news πŸŽ‰

    It's official πŸŽ‰

Greasley Beauvale Primary School have legally lowered the age range to 3 πŸŽ‰

Last week, we found out that Colin Pettigrew, the Nottinghamshire County Council Corporate Director of Children, Families and Cultural Services, had officially approved the report to lower our age range to 3.

Following a 5 day period in which the decision could have been called-in by councillors for scrutiny, there has been no challenge.

At this point, our age range has officially been lowered to 3 years old and we have updated GAIS (Get Information About Schools) details to reflect our new age range:

    https://www.get-information-schools.service.gov.uk/Establishments/Establishment/Details/135433

We will now be able to take Foundation 1 age children and officially open our nursery to allow the 'Rainbows' classroom to commence and the younger children to join.

Now for the resourcing, staffing and planning for opening after the Easter holidays πŸŽ‰

    Exciting πŸŽ‰
