  • Funniest class update

    Wed 29 Mar 2023 Miss Dyer

    Hi everyone,

    On Red Nose Day, Indigo 1 entered the Britain’s Funniest Class competition with Beano using some of the jokes we came up with for the joke off at school.

    To our delight, we have made it to the final with Oliver’s joke! 10 classes across Britain have been chosen to be in the final, and we are so excited to be one of them. If we win, the children receive a Beano book, the school receives a free Beano subscription, we get a Beano assembly, and the children get an illustration of the whole class in a Beano comic!

    The children are desperate to win, and we would really appreciate if everyone could take the time to vote for our class.

    Our joke now goes to a public vote which has gone live this afternoon, and can be found at: https://www.beano.com/posts/britains-funniest-class

    Thanks in advance!

    Miss Dyer

  • Year 2 update

    Wed 29 Mar 2023 Year 2 team

    Hello everyone,

    To support our history learning all about the Great Fire of London we had a visit from the fire service today. The children were given an amazing opportunity to compare firefighting today to 1666.  They looked at the equipment that is used today and loved being able to sit in the fire engine.

    We would like to say a HUGE thank you to the fire service for providing the children with an exciting an memorable learning experience.

  • Easter concert

    Wed 29 Mar 2023 Mrs Bates

    Wow....so lovely to see all the Year 3 and Year 4 children at Greasley Church this afternoon to perform their Easter Concert.

    The afternoon involved a collection of Easter songs, readings and poems around the Christian story of Easter (with a few additions about chocolate and egg hunts :) )

    When we made the decision to tweak the Christmas performances, we were met with a little disappointment (understandably). However, the feedback has been so positive and the parents and carers of younger children really enjoyed the event at a different time of year.

    Thank you for joining us this afternoon. We hope you enjoyed the Easter songs and readings as much as the children loved performing them  🐣 🍫

  • The Nugget - Year 4

    Tue 28 Mar 2023 Mrs Bates

    So lovely to read about school’s work in 'The Nugget' magazine. Thanks to Lyndsay Smith from Community Dental Services (also the mother of Sophia in Year 4), who came in to support the children. They children learnt lots and loved their free toothbrushes and paste.

  • GUINEA PIGS

    Tue 28 Mar 2023 Mrs Bates

    A reminder that we have three guinea pigs in school that are part of the Greasley troop :) Featured below are June, Cookie and Oreo with the Niblett family.

    The guinea pigs are visited by children at any time during school pick up and drop off, as part of the pastoral timetable or whilst children just visit the office.

    Remember to say hello when you pass by. They always love a friendly face and will squeak with happiness as they see new faces.

    I'm sure they will love seeing you all at Parents' evenings this week.

  • Daart Lessons and graduation

    Mon 27 Mar 2023 Mrs Bates

    A huge well done to our Year 6 children, who graduated today from the Daart programme. The programme states that:

    Every child deserves the right to know how to deal with risks, understand the consequences and be able to make an informed decision.

    The course looks at:

    * Internet safety

    * Sexting

    * Smoking

    * Alcohol

    * Drugs

    * Knife crime

    * Bullying

    * Hate crime

    The children were confident and articulate about what they had learnt and I was very proud to think they had taken away some good lessons for their secondary years and beyond.

  • Head Teacher Award

    Mon 27 Mar 2023 Mrs Bates

    Roman - Blue 2 - For a fantastic piece of homework related to Roman mosaics. Roman and his family worked on a family project to portray the school rainbow. Through using mosaics he also incorporated our 'GB' sign. A huge well done, Roman and Co. This will be displayed somewhere key within school and I LOVE it :)

  • Head Teacher's Blog

    Fri 24 Mar 2023 Mrs Bates

    A really busy week in school following assessment week...analysing data, looking at gaps, considering stretch and preparing for reports and parents evenings next week - make sure you book your slot! We can't wait to see you.

    In other news, our Year 3 and Year 4 children are preparing for their Easter celebration at the church next week. Rev'd Dodd and her team in church are always very welcoming and we cannot wait to see the children in our local community for the second time in just a few months.

    We continue to make links with the community and are pleased that our reading volunteers continue to grow. Please let us know if you have any time to spare.

    See you all next week when we discuss your child's progress with you.

    Have a great weekend,

    Mrs Bates
