    Week Ending 25th September 2021

Current attendance results, from September, are as follows:

Whole School Percentage is slightly below the national average at 95.2%

1st place goes to Red 2 for 98.6% attendance.

2nd place goes to Blue 2 for 98.3% attendance.

3rd place goes to Violet 2 for 97.2% attendance.

Current attendance results, for this week, are as follows:

Whole School Percentage is below National percentages, due to Covid absences, at 93.5%

1st place goes to Blue 2 for 98.7% attendance.

2nd place goes to Indigo 2 for 97.6% attendance.

3rd place goes to Blue 1 for 97.4% attendance.

Head Teachers’ Awards this week have been awarded to:

Imogen – Indigo 2 – For working independently in maths to compare and order numbers up to 1,000,000. Amazing work, Imogen – well done!

Evie – Orange 2 – For finishing off her phonics jobs quickly and efficiently on her own and making great progress. I also loved how she was able to use the words of the day within her own sentences. Super job, Evie!

Aaron – Violet 1 – For some great use of language when writing about last year compared to now. It made for a super read!

Freddie – Violet 1 – For really showing some super application of sketching skills. He produced a fabulous pencil drawing of a Viking Warrior.

A really busy week in school and learning really beginning to ‘stick’ due to progressive and sequential lessons. I am beginning to see displays take shape and questions and knowledge building up over time.

This week, I have been looking at the work in books and we are already seeing huge progress in writing due to heightened expectations and lesson structure. The children are clearly working hard on punctuation and grammar and spelling and handwriting is on ‘the up’.

    A few reminders:

    • Park behaviour needs to improve for some!
    • Pantomime payments need to be confirmed
    • Jewellery and hair accessories need to follow the uniform policy
    • Let us know if your financial situation changes as your child could be eligible for Pupil Premium funding
    • The registers close at 8.55am. If your child arrives after this time then they go to the office and unfortunately they will be classed as late.

Thank you to everyone for working hard and appreciating that this year is the year to get back to some form of normality and rigor.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Warmest wishes,

    Mrs Bates

    Another super week in school!

As you are aware, we have had a few cases of COVID within the school over the last week or two. However, we continue to monitor this and are pleased that this is manageable at this stage. We do have an outbreak management plan in place if ever needed and this would have to be followed if more than 5 people or 10% of close contacts tested positive. If cases do rise, then we may need to revert to some of the plans from the previous academic year (face coverings, no assemblies, reintroduce year group or class bubbles and no visits!), but fingers crossed for now! Thanks in advance for being as safe and precautious as you can over the coming weeks (especially as cold and flu symptoms will start to rise over the autumn months).

On a more positive note, I was delighted to be able to write to you this week about the planned pantomime trip in December! How exciting. We hope that all children will be able to access this fabulous opportunity as we appreciate the value of the arts and visiting the theatre as children develop the understanding of the wider world and life in modern day Britain today. Of course, we appreciate that there is a cost involved so, as the letter states, please speak to the office if this is a struggle for you or you require support due to your earnings.

School continues to have a ‘buzz’ and the excitement of normality is still part of the school environment. Mr Leyshon returned from paternity this week and he too was warmed by the normality of playtimes, dinners in the hall and assemblies. We welcomed him back after the birth of his third child, ‘Harrison’, and the children were pleased to see him again. We thank Mrs Henshaw for covering the class during their return from the summer, and now she will continue to support groups within the class as she moves to the latter stages of her pregnancy.

WE REALLY ARE ENJOYING BEING BACK ‘TO IT’

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Summer Inger – Orange 1 – For fantastic learning. Summer was able to find all the objects in the eye-spy investigation station

A great first full week back in school. The children are engrossed in their new learning for the ‘Discover term’ (history based) and the new enquiry questions are beginning to be discussed, debated and leading learning. I have visited all classes most days and it is lovely to see the children engaged in their learning and enjoying time with their new teachers.

Children look smart and presentable, and the uniform policy is being used and followed very well. This has included PE kits, and I am pleased to say that no child yet has had to be provided with spare kit due to not wearing the right sports kit – thank you for following policy everyone! The children look really smart and it sets the right tone and expectation for school’s high expectations.

Today, we had Rainbow Rewards for the first time in the hall together since March 2020 and it was delightful to see everyone together. The Rainbow Values had been remembered exceptionally well by the children and these were discussed at length. Our new Reception children joined us for a short time and they will learn them over time. For now, due to restrictive precautions, we are not able to invite parents and carers in for Rainbow Rewards. However, this will resume as soon as we know that cases have lowered across the area. We can’t wait to have you back in in groups for such events and parental engagement activities.

A reminder of our rainbow Values:

Respect and acceptance – “Being ready, respectful and safe in everything we do”

Active body and active mind – “Take ownership over your physical and mental wellbeing”

Inclusive yet individual – “Embrace diversity and be proud of who you are”

Nurture, develop and grow – “Persevere and take risks with your talents and potential”

Believe in yourself – “Be confident in your choices”

Overcome your obstacles – “Be brave, show resilience and challenge yourself”

Wonder and curiosity – “Ask questions and seek answers”

At Greasley Beauvale Primary School, you are “Learning for Life” to “Paint Your Own Rainbow

    Welcome Back

    Dear Parent and Carers,

Firstly, welcome back to the academic year of 2021-2022 and most importantly the autumn term with everyone back to school. I truly hope that you have a restful and enjoyable summer. I have visited all the classrooms over the week, and it has been amazing to see all the children back safe and well.

This week, we really have started to experience some normality! It has been fabulous to see classes and year groups playing with each other in the playground; lunch times taking place in the hall with more children; assemblies with the whole school and singing. The children have loved it, and everyone has started to feel a sense of community and teamwork again. Thank you to all your wonderful children for adjusting to the change so well and coming back to school with excitement and enthusiasm.

Life in school feels more energetic and it has been lovely to see everyone back together again. Yes, school drop offs and picks ups are busier. However, this is how it used to be, and we too are adjusting to the change. Removing the staggered times to the day really have helped children to get into school at the same time so that lessons can start swiftly without children drifting through over a half an hour period.

A reminder that classroom doors open at 8.45am to allow the children to come in gradually; the official register is at 8.50am and doors close at 8.55am. After this time, the children will need to walk back round to the school office, where they will be registered and unfortunately be marked as ‘late’.

PE kits so far are going well. Children have started genuinely well with the correct kit, and I am impressed with how smart they have looked. Thank you! A reminder that the jumper or outerwear should also be of school colour with no markings or branded names please. Overall, I am very impressed, and the children are settling into the new school rules, expectations and guidance exceptionally well.

I wanted to congratulate Miss Brown on her wedding over the summer. She is now ‘Mrs Bowen’ – working in Year 3 and is currently enjoying married life and getting used to her new name (as are the staff and children). In addition, we welcome back Mrs Clarke and Mrs Bold from maternity leave. We are pleased to have them back in the Year 2 and Reception teams.

In other exciting news, we would like to congratulate Mrs E Clarke (Year 5) as we can now share that she too is going to become a mother and is due to her have first child in March 2022. We are very excited for her and wish her all the luck as she moves through her pregnancy. Obviously, we are still within a pandemic, and she does have a risk assessment in place. Therefore, she will be wearing a face covering, trying to keep her distance where possible and limit contact at the door. Please consider this during though key times of the day and get in touch with her via class Dojo wherever possible. Thanks for the understanding in advance.

This week, we have welcomed our new reception starters for half day visits and from next week, they will be in school full time – they have been great so far and a fabulous bunch to join our school.

I am very proud of how children and staff have returned to school, and we are in for a great year.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Yours sincerely,

    Mrs Bates
