What an amazing term we have had!

It's been a pleasure to work with you and your children and I hope that you have a super holiday.

The staff team have created a festive movie for the children and you to enjoy.  Hopefully this link will take you to it!  If not just copy and paste!

I don't think that we expect to win X-Factor with that performance.  We do however hope to raise some money for the the action research charity.  (More details are on the youtube page).

Once again have a super Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday January 4th.

    Diary of the week:

Well, it is safe to say that Christmas really has arrived at Greasley Beauvale Primary School.

We have had a super week enjoying the Christmas festivities and I am so proud of the children. The week started with the dress rehearsal for the ‘Concert of Light’ and it just got better and better throughout the week. The children performed brilliantly and I was so proud of them. Paige did a solo, there were beautiful stars, a solo from Oliver and decorated Christmas trees. Jessica helped with all the Makaton sign language during one of the year 3 songs and the recorder group were truly brilliant. We had special visitors from the year one nativity and ‘Silent Night’ was the best version I have ever heard! Year 5 and 6 wowed me with their singing and watching approximately 250 children sway and whistle in time was magical. Well done to everyone: the children, the staff team, Miss Busby and Mrs Bradley for their musical expertise and Miss Marvin for co-ordinating the whole concert.

Thank you also to all the parents who contributed to the ‘Action Medical Research for Children’ charity box. It was fabulous to see so many of you being so generous and I am delighted to say that you all managed to raise a whopping £600 for the charity; every single penny will make a huge difference to lives of so many other children. Thank you!

Christmas dinner on Tuesday was perfect! Steph and her team did us proud and the children thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. I was serving numerous scoops of mashed potato at the hatch and experienced many children coming back to thank Steph; manners were impeccable. The smiles said it all too! The rest of the staff enjoyed their Christmas dinner on the ‘top table’ and they truly deserved it during this busy period.

Today has involved a cinema morning or afternoon for the different key stages and the ice creams went down a treat! Everyone looked fabulous in their Christmas jumpers and once again it has put everyone in good spirits for the big day. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the ‘Save the Children’ charity fund. Money is still be counted but the last time I checked we were at £77.65. Thank you to everyone for your generosity this week.

Remember that next week, we are only in school for the Monday and Tuesday as we officially start the Christmas holidays on Wednesday 21st December. On Monday, we will be having a celebration afternoon where children will be in different classes decorating Christmas decorations and on Tuesday we have party day where children can wear their party clothes all day.

Merry Christmas to you all and thanks once again for all your support throughout the autumn term. Have a truly festive weekend at this busy time of year

    Warm wishes,

    Mrs Michelle Bates

    Diary of the week:
What a week!  First of all, can I say thank you for the amazing messages of support received in school this week.  It has been super!
Let us begin by talking about our partnership with you.  I have written out today to let you know about a session I will be holding for you all.  During this session I will talk a little bit about the findings of my research and will go onto explain the partnership descriptors.  This will finish with a question and answer session.

So what else has been happening this week?
First of all, I had forgotten to praise the amazing group of parents who raised £1700 during a very successful Christmas Fair.  A great event, enjoyed by all!
The nativity this week was absolutely amazing – I loved it!  What joy and fun can be had with a tea towel and a piece of string.  Costumes looked super, a cracking production.
Year 2 enjoyed a trip to Morrisons and Year 5 have ventured out to the cinema.  A busy week for us all.
Today I have had the privilege of watching the ‘Concert of light’ rehearsal from beginning to end.  It was absolutely super and you are all in for a treat next week.  This is the first year of my career when I have not been leading the concert for the children and I cannot begin to say how very proud I felt this afternoon of what they had all achieved.  Miss Busby, Miss Marvin and all of the staff have pulled together to put a great show on.  You will love it!

Have a great weekend and I will see you all soon.

This week, the following children have received a Head Teacher’s Award:
Toby – Year 2 – for fantastic independent joined up writing.
Leah – Year 2 – for fantastic independent work on subtraction.

WILF will be spending the week with class 8 due to 100% attendance.

    Diary of the week:
The theme of the week for our assemblies this week is ‘Making a difference’ and it was great to be able to tell the children about the work I am doing at the moment with other schools. A great start to the week and it was really special hearing from the children how they think they are making a difference.

I was out of school on Tuesday. I was in London talking about the work we do to engage parents. I don’t think, as parents, you really realise what a difference you are making to your children by engaging in their learning. On Wednesday, class 6 had a super visit to Morrisons and we were told that we were part of a press release celebrating the good work that we do.

Yesterday was incredibly exciting in school as we welcomed reporters from the Evening Post and ITV into school. Ofsted have acknowledged the work that we do in partnership with our parents and it has gathered great interest from the press! There was certainly more lip gloss in school that there normally is!

Obviously, you can't believe everything that you read in the papers and we do not 'RANK' our parents.

    Have a great weekend :)
