  • Roman - Indigo 1 - Supporting children this Halloween and Christmas

Sat 21 Oct 2023 Mrs Bates

Roman, in Indigo 1, is hoping to buy lots of pumpkins, carving kits, Halloween crafts and sweet treats for the children's wards at QMC Hospital in Nottingham.

Roman has set his target to £100 because that's what is needed for halloween. However, if more is raised then he will buy Christmas presents for the children like he did last year!

    https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/QMCKidsHalloween?utm_term=PabBey8bX

Please support Roman to support poorly children this Halloween and Christmas time.

Really proud of you, Roman - keep up the great work of 'Inclusive yet Individual'

Have a great holiday and good luck with your fundraising quest. I have donated and hope you get many more,

    Mrs Bates :)

Fri 20 Oct 2023 Mrs Bates

As we approach the end of the half term, I want to thank you all for your commitment during Autumn 1. We have had many successes and developments and this week especially has seen the TTRS and Numbot dress up day, non-uniform day and 2 successful parents' evenings.

Thank you for all your colourful donations towards the raffle prizes for the Christmas fair - we are very grateful!

Please see the link to the weekly newsletter for news stories this week and upcoming events next half term:

Well done to all the children who have been in Rainbow Rewards this half term. We have worked really hard on the values of 'Respect and Acceptance' and 'Inclusive yet Individual'. We have excelled in 'Overcoming our Obstacles' and using 'Wonder and Curiosity'. Well done, children! The certificates this half term have shown how hard children are working and what they have prioritised and shone in.

Have a great half term holiday. I hope you are all safe after the heavy rain today. Look after you and yours and we will see you all again on Monday 6th November (NO INSET DAY!)

    Happy holidays,

    Mrs Bates

  • Times Tables Rockstars and Numbots Day

Tue 17 Oct 2023 Miss Marvin

    ✨ Good morning! ✨

In preparation for tomorrow's Times Tables Rockstars and NumBots Day, there have been a number of ‘Battle of the Bands’ competitions taking place from last week! βž—πŸŽΈβœ–

    Here are the latest standings:

There will be certificates and prizes for the winners of the battles, but certificates and prizes also for other achievements such as most improved, most coins earned and number of active players per class. This will be for both TTRS and NumBots πŸ˜Š

If you would like some further info about TTRS and NumBots, please follow the appropriate link below to a short video:

πŸ”Έ What is Times Tables Rockstars? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZxZbRVvbYM

    πŸ”Ή A Parents/Carers introduction to NumBots https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24sqgVgwBOg

A reminder that for the dress up day, children can come in whatever they like – they do not have to come dressed as their avatar. We would urge you not to go out and buy a costume; we would rather the children came to school in a mash-up of their wackiest, most rock-worthy or robotic finest! πŸ€–πŸ€˜πŸΌπŸ‘©πŸΌ‍🎀

As mentioned previously, Reception are not currently using NumBots and will have their very own NumBots ‘launch day’, with their own opportunity to dress up and receive certificates and prizes, later in the year when it is more appropriate and applicable for them πŸ˜Š

If you child could spend some time on TTRS or NumBots, that would be fantastic – we really do see the benefits of regular time on these platforms in class, through both accuracy of children’s answers and overall confidence. All logins have been sent home so you are ready to access TTRS and NumBots on a variety of devices.

Please ask your child’s teacher if you need further support or have additional questions.

    Many thanks πŸ˜Š

    Miss Marvin 😎🎸⚑

Fri 13 Oct 2023 Mrs Bates

A busy week in school. Many great things happening and some super comments in Rainbow Rewards this week. I look forward to sharing with you next week all the Rainbow Values that have been received this half term. This will include which ones are standing out more than others and which areas of our values need more work.

Today has been super looking around school. I have seen some great writing, history content and many exciting opportunities. Two of these include a talent show in Reception and Year 1 Robin Hood day! Both were super.

    Head Teacher's Awards got to:

Lawson - Indigo 1 - For his biography on Dorothy Vaughan. Lawson used paragraphs and vocabulary effectively and talked about his learning with confidence.

Bliss - Orange 2 - for her amazing drawings to show autumn using her senses.

Riley - Blue 1  - For his amazing effort with his spellings. He has been working so hard trying different ways to help him learn them. 10/10 this week! A huge well done

Archie - Green 2 - For working in his classroom independently, asking for help when he needed it! A great maths lesson

Ned and Bodie - Green 2 - For both completing amazing maths work. Both worked well as partners and solved the problems provided. they were both very proud of themselves and their work and used resources well to learn both independently and together.

    Shout outs go to:

Henry, Jake and Rylee, from Violet 2, who were exceptionally eager to show me their writing this morning. They had completed newspaper articles in a persuasive way and used quotes, paragraphs and the passive voice very effectively. Well done, boys! It was super to see your enthusiasm.

A busy week next week. Don't forget parents evenings :) We look forward to seeing you

    Have a great weekend

  • Cross Country

Thu 12 Oct 2023 Mrs Parnell

    Well what can I say?

I was truly privileged to spend the morning with our cross-country team at Hall Park Academy for the area competition. They were so excited - and so was I!

The children portrayed amazing sportsmanship and encouraged all of our team in addition to others too. There were many many memorable performances.

The year 5 and the year 6 girls came 2nd overall in the team placings and the year 5 and the year 6 boys teams were placed first overall. Well done to Ava for winning the year 5 girls’ race and to Denny for winning the year 6 boys' race. The talent of every single member was astounding.

It goes without saying that our parent supporters were out in force. Many thanks to all of you. Thank you everyone.

    Mrs Parnell

  • Harvest at the Food Bank

Wed 11 Oct 2023 Mr Khan

    Dear Parents,

We wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your generous donations during the Harvest Festival collection over the last few weeks. Thanks to your support, we were able to make a significant contribution to the Eastwood Foodbank, who were truly appreciative. πŸ™πŸ»

Our Harvest Festival assembly was a fantastic event, made memorable by the presence of Reverend Denise and Farmer Michael from Watnall Farm.

The children sang heartfelt Harvest festival favourites too with the help of Mrs Parnell. They also thoroughly enjoyed participating in live lessons, exploring the journey of ingredients from various recipes. They virtually visited places including a dairy farm, a butcher's shop, and a 300-year-old water-powered mill, gaining valuable insights into the origins of their food. πŸ‘¨πŸ»‍🌾🚜🌾🌽🎢

Thank you for your continued support and generosity. It's your involvement that strengthens our school community, and we couldn't be more grateful.

    See some pictures attached below.
