Head Teachers’ Awards this week have been awarded to:

Rylee – Blue 2 – For making great decisions and following this through by making sensible choices at lunchtime on Monday. He also supported a friend and tried to resolve a problem when a branch got broken.

Benji – Orange 2 – For using his amazing cutting skills to make a jellyfish. He stuck at the task and only needed help with holding the paper when it got a little tricky!

A truly exciting week in school. I have been exceptionally proud of the hard work and resilience by all the children this week in school. However, this was a sporting week for Greasley and a successful one at that. As Mrs Parnell and Mr Leyshon have already reported, we won two shields this week for the football and cross country! EXCITING! Greasley really are on the sporting map within local schools and wider again! I really am very proud.

I am also very proud of the Year 1, 2, 4 and 6 children as they approach a very important time in their schooling career, for the following reasons:

Year 1 – Phonics Screening Check

    Year 2 – KS1 SATS

Year 4 - Multiplication Tables Check

    Year 6 – KS2 SATS

What a busy time and they are all working so hard. I have the pleasure of working with some of the groups and I can see how hard they are working. I can also see how the excellent teaching from the teachers in their lessons is having an impact.

We continue to see the importance in our Rainbow Values across school. However, we firmly believe that they are ALL important so we have started to tally the success of the rewards through our Rainbow Rewards assembly on a Friday.

Respect and acceptance – “Being ready, respectful and safe in everything we do”

Active body and active mind – “Take ownership over your physical and mental wellbeing”

Inclusive yet individual – “Embrace diversity and be proud of who you are”

Nurture, develop and grow – “Persevere and take risks with your talents and potential”

Believe in yourself – “Be confident in your choices”

Overcome your obstacles – “Be brave, show resilience and challenge yourself”

Wonder and curiosity – “Ask questions and seek answers”

At Greasley Beauvale Primary School, you are “Learning for Life” to “Paint Your Own Rainbow

See the photo below to assess the success within the Rainbow Values and the areas for us to work on. Next week, we will continue to ensure that our children are ‘Inclusive yet Individual’.

Have a great weekend everyone! … and don’t forget the bank holiday. We return to school on Tuesday the 3rd May J

    Warm regards,

  • Winning cross country update

Thu 28 Apr 2022 Mrs Parnell

We are so incredibly proud of our cross-country team who competed in the local family of school’s event at The Florence Nightingale academy yesterday morning.🏃🏼‍♀️

It is fabulous to be taking children out to these events again; I know that all who were there enjoyed it immensely. At times, many adults got quite emotional!

A huge thank you to all our parent supporters who really helped 'lift’ the runners when they were tiring – I know that the ‘Go Greasley’ banner had an awful lot to do with this.🙂

There were some outstanding performances in a huge field of runners. A special mention must be made to the boy’s team for winning the overall trophy. Ethan, Henry, Thomas and Denny were all placed in the top 5 positions in their races. Amazing.

Thank you to our new kit sponsor too. Please look at the photos below.

    Well done everyone.

  • Winning football update

Wed 27 Apr 2022 Mr Leyshon

Greasley Beauvale Football Team have done it again!  Our incredibly talented football team played the final of the District Plate competition this week... and won it! It was a tight and tense match against Awsworth, with both teams tied 0-0 at half time, but our team stayed focused and battled on to a 3-1 victory. Well done boys; you continue to inspire our whole school community with your excellent team work, dedication and determination!

A Head Teacher Award this week goes to:

Lily Mae - Violet 1 - For giving carefully constructed and well-planned answers in reasoning questions in maths. She could clearly explain how to find an unknown angle. She used correct mathematical vocabulary and enabled other children to understand her ideas. A little teacher in the making! :)

A very positive start back to school life. The children clearly enjoyed the sunshine over the Easter bank holiday and came back ready to start the summer term.

The children have launched into their learning through the Create term, and I am already seeing lots of work around key artists and architects. I can't wait to see how the work progresses over the next few weeks.

There will be information released shortly about our ideas for the Queen's Jubilee and how we plan to celebrate this in school...assemblies, crowns, dress up days, royal parades and an afternoon tea. We can't wait to share it all with you so get ready! :)

    Have a great weekend,

A very positive final week in school as children end their Explore Term. This term, all the children’s learning has been based on geography themes. Teachers have used the National Curriculum to plan in such a way that has allowed the learning to be deeply focused on these topics and areas. Children have enjoyed learning about the Rainforest, national disasters, trade, their locality, continents and sea around the world…and MORE!

Next term, the children enter into the Create term, whereby they will study and learn through art, design and technology and music. More of the performing arts J Next term is more practically-based and children will learn skills that will help them to develop creatively and nurture, develop and grow new talents. I can’t wait to see the work and creative pieces develop.

Thank you to all the parents, who attended one of our final virtual parents’ evenings. We have enjoyed working remotely. However, we also think some time has been missed seeing you in school over the last two years and you must be eager to see your child’s work in their books. Before the end of the year, we will be consulting with you about your thoughts around the virtual parents’ evenings V’s in-house, face-to-face meetings.

A reminder that next week is the start of the Easter holidays and we return to school on Tuesday 19th April 2022. Enjoy the break and keep safe and well.
