  • Year 5 and 6 Beano Day

Wed 22 Nov 2023 Miss Dyer

WOW! What a brilliant and exciting day Year 5 and 6 have had with the Beano team. 🎉⚫🔴

The children spent the morning creating their own Christmas songs, drawing themselves as Beano characters with a Beano artist, and creating a (gross!) menu for a new Beano restaurant.

They then spent the afternoon taking part in a virtual session with Met Office, where they completed a variety of different challenges such as building the highest towers and dressing the Beano team up in clothes to match the weather.

It was a truly wonderful day! We will share some photos as soon as they are back from the Beano team.

Also, the winning class from last year will be receiving their winning Beano comics and t-shirts tomorrow.

    Miss Dyer 😊

  • Football Update

Tue 21 Nov 2023 Mrs Pailing and Mrs Parnell

Last night saw Greasley Beauvale kick off their league campaign against Holly Hill. Wow - what a start it was!

With great performances all over the pitch, goals coming in thick and fast, Greasley finished 9-4 winners with six different goal scorers! It was a great game from start to finish with the team supporting each other throughout.

    Well done Team GB! ⚽⚽

    Mrs Pailing

We felt honoured to be watching such an amazing group of players- thank you everyone. Also I would like to thank one of Mrs Pailing's older children for refereeing the match.

  • Positive Parent voice

Mon 20 Nov 2023 Mrs Bates

A really wonderful start to the day by receiving such a positive email from a parent about the behaviours, respect and kindness of lots of our children over the weekend. It made a Monday morning very pleasant, and I was over the moon to hear that our children are taking our Rainbow Values and caring ethos into the community, with their families, during a children's birthday party.

    Good Morning Mrs Bates,

I hope you are well. We had a Birthday Party for [our child[ yesterday.

We invited the whole of year 4 and many from year 5 and 6.

Every single child that attended behaved brilliantly, all were so polite and most importantly kind to each other.

[Two boys] from year 5 made sure 1 child sitting out of dancing on his own, came and got involved because they made him feel included.

Parents of Greasley really should feel so proud of the young people they are raising and what a great job the teachers and staff are doing in helping us all turn our children into fantastic young adults.

We will now be eating cake for a month!

    Kind regards

    [Parent from Year 4]

WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED!

This was later followed by three boys achieving a Head Teachers Awards:

Harry, Reggie and Cameron - Blue 2 - For devising an excellent jumping routine in PE, which they shared with confidence.

There was then a wonderful end to the day as we invited in our potentially new reception children to foundation. It was lovely to see so many new young faces, eager to explore the setting and their parents. There was some great feedback from the tours that have been taking place already and so many new parents have chosen Greasley already :)

A thank you to Mrs Henshaw for doing her talk to parents also tonight about history at Greasley.

I'm also aware of a BIG win at the football tonight, but I will await the details and share tomorrow - well done, boys!

    What a fantastic day!

  • Head Teachers Blog!

Fri 17 Nov 2023 Mrs Bates

An amazing Rainbow Rewards assembly this morning. So many children were spotted for their growth in confidence and engagement with learning. I was very impressed and proud.

A huge well done to Bonnie, in Orange 1 today for her Head Teachers Award . This was for her enthusiasm for phonics and writing independently. GREAT work, Bonnie.

Check out this week's newsletter and have a super weekend: https://sway.office.com/wQd92KDH3t2vBKsg?ref=Link,

  • Football update

Thu 16 Nov 2023 Mrs Pailing

Yesterday, the football team went to The Kimberley School for the EDPSSA 7 a side tournment. This was their first match of the new school year.  ⚽

The team started off their games with a match against Larkfields; a nail-biting eight minutes of football. This ended in a 0-0 draw. After this match there were some great performances, which resulted in the team winning 3 games and drawing 2. We won the group and played Awsworth in the semi-final.

Henry B scored a great goal, which sent the team through to the final which was against Larkfields once again. Thomas sent the ball past the keeper into the back of the net! The boys held on to the lead to take the winner's trophy.⚽⚽⚽

The team showed each and every rainbow value; I couldn't be more proud of them.🌈

    Mrs Pailing

Goals scorers: Henry B, Blake, Lucas, Thomas and Alfie !!!! Great team work by all.

  • Parental events

Wed 15 Nov 2023 Mrs Bates

WOW...two super parental events this week

❄💙 Year 6 shared their Polar Exploration workshop on Tuesday. It was a great opportunity for the parents and carers to see the learning from across the curriculum within Autumn 1. The art work was brilliant, alongside written work in Geography and throughout English 💙❄

Year 4 were all about the bread! WOW, they were tasty loaves. The children made prototypes of different types of bread and these were tasted and rated during the event. My favourites were the saltier versions and the tiger loaves. The only improvement I suggested to some groups was the missing Cornish butter or Lurpak :)

Well done, everyone! Great mid-week celebrations of learning

  • Children in Need

Wed 15 Nov 2023 Miss Marvin

    Good afternoon all 💛

It is Children in Need on Friday we feel it is important to acknowledge this charity and all they strive to achieve. With lots of non-uniform days before half term and one next week, Friday will NOT be a non-uniform dayInstead, we will be taking the time in class to discuss and reflect on the work that the charities that are supported by Children in Need do.

Last year, Children in Need helped nearly 460,000 children and young people to overcome their challenges. This included supporting children & young people living in poverty, providing emergency support to families in crisis, providing comfort to children feeling sad, lost and alone, helping children overcome social injustice and supporting children to feel safe and secure again.

If you would like to donate to this wonderful charity, please feel free to follow the QR code below:

Many thanks for your continued support,

    Miss Marvin
