Head Teacher's Blog

Week Ending 29th April 2022

Head Teachers’ Awards this week have been awarded to:

Rylee – Blue 2 – For making great decisions and following this through by making sensible choices at lunchtime on Monday. He also supported a friend and tried to resolve a problem when a branch got broken.

Benji – Orange 2 – For using his amazing cutting skills to make a jellyfish. He stuck at the task and only needed help with holding the paper when it got a little tricky!

A truly exciting week in school. I have been exceptionally proud of the hard work and resilience by all the children this week in school. However, this was a sporting week for Greasley and a successful one at that. As Mrs Parnell and Mr Leyshon have already reported, we won two shields this week for the football and cross country! EXCITING! Greasley really are on the sporting map within local schools and wider again! I really am very proud.

I am also very proud of the Year 1, 2, 4 and 6 children as they approach a very important time in their schooling career, for the following reasons:

Year 1 – Phonics Screening Check

Year 2 – KS1 SATS

Year 4 - Multiplication Tables Check

Year 6 – KS2 SATS

What a busy time and they are all working so hard. I have the pleasure of working with some of the groups and I can see how hard they are working. I can also see how the excellent teaching from the teachers in their lessons is having an impact.

We continue to see the importance in our Rainbow Values across school. However, we firmly believe that they are ALL important so we have started to tally the success of the rewards through our Rainbow Rewards assembly on a Friday.

Respect and acceptance – “Being ready, respectful and safe in everything we do”

Active body and active mind – “Take ownership over your physical and mental wellbeing”

Inclusive yet individual – “Embrace diversity and be proud of who you are”

Nurture, develop and grow – “Persevere and take risks with your talents and potential”

Believe in yourself – “Be confident in your choices”

Overcome your obstacles – “Be brave, show resilience and challenge yourself”

Wonder and curiosity – “Ask questions and seek answers”

At Greasley Beauvale Primary School, you are “Learning for Life” to “Paint Your Own Rainbow

See the photo below to assess the success within the Rainbow Values and the areas for us to work on. Next week, we will continue to ensure that our children are ‘Inclusive yet Individual’.

Have a great weekend everyone! … and don’t forget the bank holiday. We return to school on Tuesday the 3rd May J

Warm regards,

Mrs Bates
