  • The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Thu 14 Dec 2023 Mrs Bailey

🐺 Yesterday, the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 had a wonderful time watching the performance, 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf.'

For some of our children, this was their first time on a school trip, which made the visit even more special. 🐺

❄❄ The most magical moment took place when it began to 'snow' during the performance. The children all watched in awe and amazement.

❄❄ A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who came in to help support the visit, without your help we would not have been able to facilitate the visit. 🌈

  • 7 Lessons and Carols

Wed 13 Dec 2023 Mrs Bates

Year 5 and 6 Carols and reading at Greasley Church

As I left school yesterday to watch the Year 5 and 6 children at St. Marys, there was a rainbow in the sky above the church...a sign for great things in the community throughout the afternoon.

Mrs Parnell and Miss Marvin stated that the 'Year 5 and 6 have excelled themselves at their performances at the church', and I couldn't have agreed moreβ›ͺ

The children sung beautifully and the readings were confident and articulate. There was some very memorable singing🎡 and the children looked happy and reflective as the roof was raised with the hymns and carols.

Thank you to everyone who made the event happen and to all the year 5 and 6 staff. Thanks to the parents, carers and visitors for making the event and purchasing tickets this year.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas

  • Football tournament update

Sat 09 Dec 2023 Mrs Bates

A huge well done to our football team this morning for turning up at Sutton Lawns, Sutton in Ashfield, to take part in the latest tournament.

Sadly, due to the torrential rain, the event has been cancelled. However, I have been informed by Mrs Pailing that the children were resilient and respectful and understood the rationale behind the cancellation. Mrs Pailing and the organisers had the welfare of the footballers at heart and made the right decision to cancel.

Thank you to Mrs Pailing and the boys for taking the time to turn up, or be on their way to the tournament, and for still representing the school in a confident and patient way.

The tournament will be re-scheduled and this will take place in the new year.

Have a happy weekend, everyone! Keep dry, warm and safe.

  • Christmas Fair

Thu 07 Dec 2023 Mrs Bates

Wow, what an amazing Christmas Fair this evening!

The whole school was filled with festive stalls and games, and we are so grateful for all the support and visitors.

I was so proud of the classes, and staff, who created their own games and festive produce to sell and share. There was an array of bread making, reindeer food, hot chocolate mixes, baubles, Christmas tree decorations, ginger bread men, peppermint creams and more! Our pre-loved Christmas jumper sale was a hit and the choir were outstanding.

Thank you to everyone who donated prizes for the tombolas and raffles. Once again, they were a sellout!

Prizes will be awarded in Rainbow Rewards tomorrow, but the raffle will continue until the final week, when we still have concerts and carol performances to go (in school and at Greasley Church).

Thank you everyone. I predict a £2500 intake from the fair, which will be great to add additional experiences and opportunities to the children over the next academic year.

    THANK YOU

  • Lowering the age range to 3-11 year olds

Tue 05 Dec 2023 Mrs Bates

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Following previous communication to you regarding lowering the age range to 3-11 year olds at Greasley Beauvale Primary School, I am now very pleased to inform you that our plans have been approved by the Local Authority at the first stage.

At present, the Nottingham County Council (NCC) have now started the statutory consultation process and have created and submitted all of the relevant paperwork that is required for the statutory consultation to take place. The consultation has now gone live on the Nottinghamshire County Council website. The links are as follows, which we are obliged to share with you:

Public notices relating to schools | Nottinghamshire County Council

Greasley Beauvale Primary School: Proposal for alteration of age range - Nottinghamshire County Council - Citizen Space

Over the next working day or so, we will have these on the website, school social media sites and on the school gates within the grounds. Please have your say.

We very much look forward to this exciting new venture and have every hope that we will soon open our doors to 3 year olds within the Foundation 1 Early Years Provision.

If all is approved at this statutory stage, we are hopeful that this provision will commence from the start of the summer term 2024 (after the Easter holidays).

Thanks for your support with the consultation process in advance.

    Warm regards,

    Mrs Bates
