  • Head Teacher's Blog

Sat 19 Nov 2022 Mrs Bates

I think the blog this week shows what a busy and dedicated week it has been in school (and more!)...

    - Considering how there should be 'No outsiders' and wearing our odd socks to show our awareness

    - Children being charitable and kind

    - SATs week presentations

    - More tours of the school

    - Recognition from the church

    - Christmas fair preparations

    - and many examples are where our values have come into action

Respect and acceptance – “Being ready, respectful and safe in everything we do”

Active body and active mind – “Take ownership over your physical and mental wellbeing”

Inclusive yet individual – “Embrace diversity and be proud of who you are”

Nurture, develop and grow – “Persevere and take risks with your talents and potential”

Believe in yourself – “Be confident in your choices”

Overcome your obstacles – “Be brave, show resilience and challenge yourself”

Wonder and curiosity – “Ask questions and seek answers”

I am so proud of the children and staff, and we really are looking at working with you more (as parental stakeholders) over the coming weeks, months and years.

  • Year 4 girls charity run

Thu 17 Nov 2022 Mrs Bates

I was proud on Monday morning to hear that three of our Year 4 girls had completed a 2k park run and had raised a whopping £505 for the RSPCA.

Bluebell was the initiator and her charitable friends, Holly and Hattie, supported her and took part too. They all took on a new challenge of running 2K and getting so many donations along the way.

They have done a very charitable and kind act. In addition, they will all help lots of animals with their kindness too.

I am so incredibly proud of how many generous and kind children we have in school and how our values are not only part of school life but are built into family life and the big wide world too!

    Well done, girls!

    Head Teacher's Awards Update:

Priya - Reception - For her wonderful writing. Priya has been working hard to write sentences by herself using her phonics knowledge. She sounds out words and writes independently. In addition, she was also able to segment and blend her sounds back together to read back to me what she had written. A HUGE well done, Priya!

  • Remembrance

Mon 14 Nov 2022 Mrs Bates

It was lovely to see some of our children, and their families, at the Remembrance service at St. Mary's church yesterday. They looked very smart in their uniforms and our wreath respectfully took centre stage. Thank you to Mrs Barrowcliffe and Philippa (from Year 2) for representing the school, presenting the church with our Greasley wreath and taking some photographs for us.

I heard from Rev'd Denise Dodd and she said,

"I wanted to send an email to say thank you on behalf of St Mary’s for the amazing poppy wreath the children produced for the Remembrance service.  Pippa represented the school with an outstanding level of respect and pride".

    Lest We Forget,

  • Remembrance Day

Fri 11 Nov 2022 Mr Khan

    Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share some images of the amazing poppy wreath we have made in school this week. This has had involvement with children from every class in school and with the skillfull help of Mrs Wright and Miss Schofield.

The children throughout school have been completing some learning and activities based around Remembrance Day and the history of the poppy.

This wreath will be presented at the Remembrance Day service being held at St Mary's Church this Sunday at 10.30am.

    Have a nice weekend,

    Mr Khan 🙂
