Match Reports from County Tournament 26th February 2022

Match One

Greasley Beauvale V Middleton

Oliver S was captain, and the game started well. The first half saw an early goal scored by Jagen, which was a great start for Greasley. We dominated the play in the match and Jagen scored again securing our first match win in the tournament stages.

Final Score 2-0 to Greasley Beauvale.

Match Two

Greasley Beauvale V Carnarvon

The team were straight on again with match two, and this was a little tougher. Greasley went 1-0 up, with a great goal by Jagen. The opposition pushed hard and there were several attempts on goal, but, thanks to the amazing skills of our goal keeper Jacob, it stayed 1-0. Ethan and Haydn pushed hard and kept the game moving at a fast pace.

Final Score 1-0 to Greasley Beauvale.

Match Three

Greasley Beauvale V Arnold View

This was the toughest match of the tournament for Greasley, and despite two goals by the opposition in quick succession we worked well and kept our heads up. Special mention to Thomas and Alfie who worked hard and passed the ball with great skill.

Match Four

Greasley Beauvale V Barnby Road

Everything hinged on the final game, and Greasley came out energetic and strong. Oliver C pushed hard to try and score several times, but their keeper was very good. Ethan F also played well in defence which helped secure a draw for the final game.

Final score 0-0

After the final game, there was a tense wait for the scores to come in and then we all knew we had come out on top with 7 points. The next three teams all scored 5 points which made us the clear champions.
