We are delighted to announce that we, Greasley Beauvale Primary and Nursery School, have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include:
*District Sports winning school for the second year running
*Second place in the local school Netball tournament
*Finalists in the Football County tournament
*Cup winners for the Eastwood and District final
*Having our own swimming pool in the school grounds that has maximised the number of swim hours each child in Key Stage 2 has
*First place for the girls' cross country running team in the Eastwood district competition
*Second place for the boys in the Eastwood district competition
*Second place in the local schools swimming gala
*Third place in the local schools rounders tournament
*Sixteen of our talented cross-country runners reached the Nottinghamshire finals. One Greasley child came in fourth position
*Our new lunchtime provision includes a wider variety of activities to encourage more active minutes for each child
With many young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to all the children in the entire school who made this happen. This award is down to your determination and enthusiasm for sports and games.
