Head Teacher's BLOG!

Week Ending 15th July 2022

Head Teachers’ Awards this week have been awarded to:

Amelie – Blue 2 - For overcoming her obstacles and being creative in ways at home to support her emotions. Mrs Timson and I felt inspired by Amelie today after she introduced us to Julie and the Phantoms and the songs that she listens to, to make proactive and reflective choices.

Zara – Orange 1 - For fantastic progress in her writing, especially when remembering her full stops and capital letters.

Leo – Orange 1 – For fantastic effort with his writing. He thought about how to include his senses in his writing to describe the setting.

Such a busy week in school (and HOT!) The children have coped really well and continue to be committed to their learning.

Our Year 6 have been busy this week. At the beginning of the week, they were practising for their production at the end of term, receiving their SAT results and then off to their residential in Edale 😊 I look forward to the updates as reception there is so intermittent!

We welcomed new Reception children into school this week for their transitions days, and we can’t wait for them to start in September 😊

Next week is going to get hotter so please follow the below guidance for being in school during extreme weather temperatures:

  • Apply a suitable high factor sun cream to provide protection against the sun
  • Arrive to school with a full water bottle, start hydrated and stay hydrated. There are water stations to refill at break and lunch
  • Stay hydrated and protected on the Sunday - which is also predicted to be around 30 degrees – we want to avoid the effects of extreme heat altogether
  • Remember a hat for outdoor plays and learning
  • Wear loose clothing
  • Try to wear sunglasses to also protect the eyes
  • Seek the shade!
