It came to my attention on Friday that Sophia in year 1 dressed as ‘CHEWIE’ on World Book Day and brought in great reading material to school. A book with a difference, and a very special link to Chewie and Sophia herself.
The book Sophia bought into school was in fact a comic. It was created by the East Midlands Garrisons, who are all volunteers. They all have a love for Star Wars and in their own time dress up as the characters to raise money for Pasic, a children’s cancer charity (Parents Association for Seriously Ill Children).
East Midlands Garrison are a group of like-minded, huge-hearted people who enjoy making adults and children smile when raising money for charity. We are very proud to have found out that Sophia is part of the Garrison family and she was in the comic she brought to school!
On Monday, in Reception and Key Stage 1 Rainbow Rewards, we will be sharing her comic and giving huge thanks to the work that Sophia does with the Garrison family, whilst raising money for Pasic.
Amazing work, Sophia! Well done and we can’t wait to see you tomorrow morning. I really feel that your work fits our 'Nurture, Develop and Grow' Rainbow Value - thank you for your work in the Nottinghamshire community.
Have a great day everyone.
Warm regards,
