Football Match Report

Greasley entertained Larkfields Junior School on Friday 4th November in their first league game. The game was played at a tremendous pace in the first half with both teams creating chances. The goalkeepers, however, were playing very well and the score stood at  0-0 at half time.
In the second half, Greasley stepped up the pace and matched a big strong Larkfields side in every area of the pitch. However, from a corner Larkfields took the lead with a good header from the central defender.
Greasley continued in their effort to get level with Craig Bailey and Brandon Glover going close. With the final kick of the game the ball was played into the Larkfields penalty box and Alistair Weeks got a good contact on the ball but just put it wide of the post, which would have been a deserved equaliser.
All the team played their part in the game and they can be proud of the way they conducted themselves. We are a young team this year but if we put in performances like this we won't lose many games. Larkfields are a very big and strong side and are considered favourites for the title this year but we more than matched them with some outstanding performances.
Both our defenders Harvey Bexon and Matthew Salisbury were the best players on the pitch without a doubt.
Well done to you all.
Glenn (football coach)
