Head Teacher's Blog

Firstly, welcome back to the academic year of 2022-2023. I truly hope that you had a restful and enjoyable summer. I have visited all the classrooms since the return, and it has been amazing to see all the children back safe and well. Life in school feels energetic and it has been lovely to see everyone back together again.

Over the last week, we have welcomed our new reception starters for half day visits, and they are now in school full time – they have been great so far and a fabulous bunch to join our school. We have also introduced Miss Lowe to the Year 5 team, and she has settled in well and made a great start. We are currently seeking new TA roles and a maternity cover for Mrs Branigan who goes on her maternity leave at some point in November. More details to follow when roles have been finalised.

Before the summer, we congratulated Mrs Stevenson on her new leadership role from October half-term, and we are pleased to announce that the new SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities lead) for Greasley Beauvale will be Miss Manson. We know that she will make a great lead for special needs across the school and will work well with parents, children and agencies. The ‘hand over’ has already started with both members of staff and I know (and have every faith and confidence) that Mrs Stevenson will share all her expertise with Miss Manson before she sadly leaves us.

I am very proud of how children and staff have returned to school, and we are in for a great year. I look forward to sharing our priorities with you over the next few weeks and months and I know this really is the year for us post Ofsted, Covid and everything that has come our way over the last few years.

We look forward to working with you over this academic year and I excited with what we have in store.
