Head Teacher's Blog

A super enthusiastic return to school!

I have been very proud of everyone as they have launched into their learning positively and enthusiastically. We return to the Explore term, which is based mainly on a geographical topic, and the children are enthused and engaged.

In Rainbow Rewards, on Friday, I asked the whole school what 'good behaviour for learning' might look and feel like when different teachers and leaders walk into the room. The children shot their hands up and we had some great responses:

* Good listening

* Asking curious questions

* Responding to the teachers and peers

* Not fussing, talking or fiddling

* Being independent and using resources

* Being active

* Being ENGAGED with learning - this was a cracking answer

....and more! This is what we are looking for this half term in school through a variety of different lessons.

This week also, the swimming team went to the gala at The Kimberley School. Thanks to Miss Marvin and Mrs Poxon, who took them along after the trials, and commented on what a great morning it was. Half way through, we were ahead of some very good, competitive schools and there were some good PBs and winning races. We came 4th as a school overall and we were very proud of the 'Active Bodies and Active Minds'. The team did a smashing job and we can only get better and better next year as we exit the pandemic.

‘Elvis’ the chipmunk (with his wonderful sweeping brush) has awarded the neat and tidy classroom award this week to Yellow 1

Tomorrow, the football team will be going off to the county finals tournament in Sutton-in- Ashfield. I can not wait to hear how they get along. Good luck to the lads, whole team and coaches :)

Have a good weekend, everyone!
