A super week back in school. We have had sunshine, laughter and a sea of smiles in and around school. The weather really has helped to return to school in a positive way, and the children really have returned to school this week ready for the longer and harder half term ahead.

Before the half term holiday, the children had their NFER assessments and the teachers spent the INSET day analysing the results, assessing the successes and gaps and planning for the rest of the academic year. They have also started the end of year reports…I cannot believe we are approaching the end again already! What a year!

Another reminder that formal PE kit is expected on PE days (in the same way that uniform is expected on a daily basis). We are currently considering the move to this being a set plan for the next academic year, but we want to ensure that children remain with high expectations and standards and wear the correct uniform daily please (this includes PE).

Please can I also remind you to provide your children with a sun hat, cream and water on a daily basis. Based on staggered playtimes, and areas for some year groups, shade is not always possible and we need to ensure that the children are sun-safe all day.

I am currently being asked questions about staffing for next year, and I hope to have that confirmed within the next week. I know it’s an anxious time for you all, but rest assured hours of planning goes into year group planning and we have many needs, personalities and mixes to consider. I will ensure that these plans are communicated to you as soon as they are confirmed. Sit tight and trust us : )

I hope you are all continuing to keep safe. A reminder that the vaccines are now open to the over 25s and lateral flow tests on a biweekly basis are one of the ways to help keep the community safe. Cases are starting to rise again and I hope that you all continue to be as safe as possible within the guidelines. I understand what it is like as a parent, when our children’s bubble close. Let’s try and avoid more closures wherever possible!

Have a great weekend everyone as we approach a mini heatwave! Enjoy and take care.

Warmest wishes,

Mrs Bates
