OPAL BIG Build

This week marked our very first Big Build afternoon—and what a success it was! I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along and got involved. It was truly wonderful to see families working together to create new and exciting play opportunities for our children.

Thanks to your enthusiasm and teamwork, we now have a brand-new ramp for bikes and scooters on the field, the beginnings of a castle, a water wall, a new table for the mud kitchen, and additional pallets ready for Opal signage. Your creativity and commitment have made a real difference.

We know some of you are keen to help finish the castle, and Steve and Mrs Barrowcliffe will be available on Tuesday afternoon next week if that’s convenient. If another time suits you better, please do get in touch—we’ll do our best to accommodate.

A quick note: a tape measure was left behind and is now in the school office ready for collection.

We have more Big Build events planned throughout the year and hope you’ll be able to join us again. It’s not all about tools—next time, we’re hoping to paint the welly racks, so there’ll be something for everyone to get involved with.

Coming soon: we’ll be announcing the date for our Opal Parents Play Date. During this session, you’ll meet our Opal mentor, Wendy, who will give a short presentation about the Opal programme. we’ll also share how Opal is shaping play at Greasley and our exciting plans for the future. Then the real fun begins—you’ll have the chance to explore our Opal resources alongside your children.

Thank you again for your continued support. It’s a joy to see our community come together in such a meaningful way.

Warm regards,

Michelle Bates
