Writing for Remembrance – A Special Invitation

 

We are proud to share that children at Greasley have been invited by Eastwood Town Council to take part in a meaningful writing opportunity in support of the Poppy Appeal.

 

As part of the launch event at Giltbrook Retail Park on Saturday 25th October, our pupils are encouraged to write poems that reflect the spirit of Remembrance. This is a chance for them to express their thoughts and feelings about themes such as:

 

  • The symbolism of poppies
  • Honouring those who have served in the armed forces
  • The importance of remembering
  • The work of the Poppy Appeal and those it supports

 

Children may choose any poetic style or structure, and are welcome to explore other creative ideas related to Remembrance.

 

One poem will be selected by Eastwood Town Council to be read aloud at the Remembrance Service on Saturday 8th November—a truly special honour.

 

All entries should be submitted to Miss Wyatt (Indigo 1) by lunchtime on Friday 10th October.

 

We look forward to seeing the heartfelt and thoughtful work our children produce for this important occasion.
