Yesterday afternoon was one of those moments that I will never forget.
As usual, we had a very strong squad to take to the District Sports at Harvey Hadden. Yes, we had practiced. Yes, all the children had been put through their paces to reach the squad and of course they were all excited, loud on the bus, in the stadium and especially when the races and events had started.
I really don’t think I had a clue just how amazing all the children would be.
At the very last moment we had two children who were unable to take part. Many thanks to Ella and Ella for stepping up and supporting us.
Also a special mention to Jax who was needed at the last second to run the final leg in the boys’ relay team to bring them home in second place.
It was clear from the outset that the squad were keenly supporting each other and were there to do their best - I am sure that winning was already in the minds of some.
Again, as usual, I got over emotional at points, and was very loud when cheering.
I cannot tell you how great the afternoon was.
Many firsts, seconds and thirds, and more importantly many proud children.
Thank you to our supporters. We couldn’t have done it without you all.
Last year we shared the trophy with another local school. This year we were 13 points clear of the school in second place. Greasley won the event with 50 points. I think that this is the highest winning total that I can remember.
Enjoy the photos. 😄
