Keep up to date with the latest News here.
It's been a very busy week in school:
* Staffing confirmed for September
* Visits from new starters and their grown-ups
* Assessment week for all year groups who have not already carried out their SATs
* Residentials
* Rainbow Rewards
...and Head Teachers Awards for:
Jace and Snow in Red 1 for exceptional progress with their handwriting. The progress has now led to both children being able to write on the lines, within the lines, and with a consistent shape and size. The children were delighted to see their progress (and sticker!) :)
Ned in Yellow 1 for being an amazing representative for Greasley on our recent residential. He was noticed by Miss Schofield, myself, other staff and Camp Commander, Tom!
Anaiya in reception for taking her time to form recognisable letters and words in her writing. Anaiya was set a challenge to form her letters properly and remember finger spaces and she has worked hard to achieve this in her independent writing!
Have a good weekend, everyone
Mrs Bates
Today, our Year 6 children (who are going to Hall Park Academy) fledged the nest and went to spend the day in their new school for September 2023.
The day was a full run through for them as they went to Hall Park from home and experienced secondary school life for real.
It's been quiet without them today and I look forward to hearing all about it tomorrow.
Mrs Bates :)
Today, we welcomed our new Reception children to school, who will be joining us in September. We had two sessions (morning and after school) and it was so lovely to see so many bright, cheerful and happy faces.
The children were ready and raring to go and the grown ups left them for the first time.
Whilst the children were settling in, learning the ropes and exploring the setting, the parents and carers walked around school with me.
They saw the Rainbow values, hall, new library and many classrooms. They saw what we have to offer and asked some great questions.
The year is not over yet, but I can't wait to see our new, younger children in our school :)
Happy summer everyone and see you soon
Mrs Bates
A final message/photo from me regarding the Wollaton camping experience!
As a group of staff, we sat in the field last night reflecting on the day, residentials as a whole and the BEST parts of the job! ποΈππ₯πΊοΈ Residentials are definitely ‘up there’!
Thank you for trusting us with your children. Every child was amazing in different ways and I was SO impressed with their attitude, resilience, team work and sensible risk-taking.
I hope before bath and bed time that you’ve heard all the stories and memories! I’m certainly sharing mine with my family!
I hope you can all join me in thanking the amazing bunch of staff, who also gave up time with their own families, to accompany your child on a super camping trip πβ€οΈποΈπΊοΈ
Sleep tight kids (and at least the bed bugs won’t bite tonight!) ποΈπ
See you all tomorrow,
Mrs Bates π€πΊοΈ
What an amazing day at Wollaton Park today!
The start of the Year 2 camping trip was a hit with the children (and staff) and it's safe to say that we have all had a fabulous time. We left school early in the morning and the day was PERFECT.
My group started on their first activity (orienteering!) πΊοΈππ§ Great spirits and on an adventure π We were all very competitive and the results were as follows:
1st place π₯ Mrs Bates’ group
2nd place π₯ Miss Manson’s group 3rd place
π₯ Mrs Waplington’s group
We were all on a mission and rotating those maps and navigating the flags with enthusiasm and drive!
After a lovely lunch of wedges, pizza, cucumber and carrot sticks (or jacket potato), Yellow 2 then swapped activities and were off to den build in the woods π€ποΈ whilst Yellow 1 did the orienteering πππΊοΈ
Some amazing dens were made by Yellow 1 π€©βοΈπ One group made a camp fire π₯ for roasting marshmallows; another made a seesaw and one even made an extension π€© All made great designs, used super teamwork and had fun π€© Now back to camp and hoping for no rain π
Of course, Yellow 2 (Miss Schofield's group) were just as active, but on the other side of the park.
What a lovely way to end a memorable day… marshmallows and hot chocolate around the campfire π₯
Now to no 'lights out' and waiting for the sun to set :)
Night night all
Mrs Bates (over and out after a busy day!)
This afternoon we had some very exciting visitors!
The local MP for Broxtowe, Darren Henry, came in to congratulate Indigo 1 on winning the Beano competition, and even bought in a Raleigh Chopper Beano bike to show the children (along with the project manager, Darren, from Raleigh).
We were also visited by Darren Henry's wife, Caroline Henry, the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner to share her stories.
The children shared some jokes with them too, and they even came prepared with some of their own. It was a lovely way to end all of our Beano celebrations!
We may even have built some great new links with the police and Raleigh :)
Update on Head Teacher Awards:
Red 2 - Jensen - For amazing progress, drive and improvement on phonics and his blending. He was able to make words from sounds and this shows a huge improvement towards his academic learning. We are very proud of Jensen as he gets ready for Year 1.
Red 1 - Elizabeth - For amazing progress with her writing. building sentences from words and writing lists independently. WOW! :)
Blue 1 - Maeve - For continuously having pride in her work, presenting it beautifully across the curriculum. Maeve works hard every day, in every subject, and is often used as a WAGOLL!
Today, a team of us visited Willow Farm Primary School for a showcase on Opal play and learning:
- Myself as Head Teacher
- Miss Atamaniuk (Reception and EYFS lead)
- Mrs Poxon (Sport Premium link Governor and business manager)
The visit was to see how the school plan for play and break times.Wow...it was awe-inspiring. The fun, the risks, the challenges and the team work.
We were all 'taken' and will be looking into this for our children at Greasley.
Why not take a look:
The OPAL Primary Programme - Outdoor Play And Learning
It's safe to say that both the Year 1 and Year 3 got wet today! However, whether at Yorkshire Wildlife Park or Wollaton, the children had a ball and managed to have fun and learning opportunities.
Very proud of all the children and staff.
Our Year 3 are back from their one night camping residential. They have conquered challenges and risks and overcame any hurdles. They LOVED it, and I LOVED going to visit them after work Monday evening :)
