Associate members are appointed by the governing body to attend committee meetings and/or full governing body meetings due to their particular skills or experience.

Kate Stevenson - Associate Governor
Current Term of Office - 10/11/2015 to 09/11/2019
Register of interests and other positions held - None
Committees - Pupils and Personnel
Link roles - Human Resources

Having spent the last 10 years working in the field of HR, I have extensive knowledge and experience of all aspects relating to my field. With both my children currently at the school, and now working as a HR Business Partner for Travis Perkins, I agreed to be an Associate Governor to be able to provide guidance where needed, but without the commitment of the full parent governor role. I am passionate about my job and enjoy the varied challenges it brings and am excited to be able to share this with the school.

Donna Kemp - Associate Governor

Link roles - Health and Safety

My previous job roles have focused on Health and Safety and it is this experience which I bring to the Governing body. I have 2 boys in school currently in Years 1 & 3 giving me a vested interest in the success of the school. I try to bring fresh ideas to school and I am part of the parents HUB group. I enjoy helping out with trips and events in school whenever I am able.

Michelle Bates (Deputy Head Teacher) - Associate Governor
Current Term of Office - 10/11/2015 to 09/11/2019
Register of Interests and other positions held - Sits as a co-opted Governor on Larkfields Junior School's Governing body
Committees - Finance, Strategic and Pupils & Personnel
Link roles - None

I started my teaching career, at Larkfields Junior School, in 2001 and remained there until July 2015 (due to career development and fantastic opportunities arising over time). During my time at the school, I was a member of the Senior Leadership team; I worked four years as a Deputy Head Teacher; appraised many members of staff and completed my ‘Masters in Education’ with commendation. I became a governor for the school in 2008 and was part of all committees. In my final year at Larkfields Junior School, I led the Pupils Personnel Committee (in the absence of the Head Teacher) and was responsible for devising agendas, preparing relevant materials and dealing with challenge to further develop the school. I was also a Leading teacher for English across the county and became a writing moderator for the Local Authority and the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) in 2012. On leaving the school, I remain a Co-opted governor and sit on the PPC, Strategic and Full Governing Body committees. My daughter, Maisie, now attends Larkfields Junior School and I am very happy to remain linked with the school.
In September 2015, I commenced my role as Deputy Head Teacher at Greasley Beauvale Primary School. I continue to work as an associate governor on all committees and thoroughly enjoy the challenge and professional development that this provides. I lead on English (writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar), the new curriculum and Children Looked After (CLA). I am responsible for two areas of the School Improvement Plan; Spelling and Homework. In addition, I am a Senior Designated Person for safe-guarding and child protection and have been trained on the Prevent Duty (including the completion of the Chanel General Awareness module). I have also completed the ‘Safer Recruitment in education’ training. I am the appraiser for four members of staff and currently mentor an NQT student. I continue to work for the Local Authority/STA as a writing moderator and have also led training to approximately 200 within the Nottinghamshire County on ‘Assessment using the Interim Teacher Assessment Frameworks’. I have a sound understanding of data analysis (especially RAISEonline), Ofsted, Inspection dashboard and Self-evaluation.
As a Deputy Head Teacher, I bring a holistic viewpoint to governor meetings. However, as a teacher myself, I bring a staff perspective also. I thoroughly enjoy the role of governor and continue to thrive in my work, despite the current changes and challenges to education!
