Deputy Head Teacher

Salary: Group 2 - Points L8-L12

Due to the promotion of the previous Deputy Head Teacher, the governors have seized the opportunity to appoint a new Deputy Head Teacher into the leadership structure from 16th April 2018.  We are looking for an outstanding practitioner to support the team with confidence and provide a refreshing contribution to the new vision for the school.


The successful candidate will:

  • Support the new Head Teacher in developing the new leadership structure and vision of the school;
  • Be an excellent and inspirational practitioner with a commitment to high standards and progress for all children;
  • Be able to enthuse and motivate all learners, creating strong partnerships with parents and all stakeholders;
  • Be encouraged to form strong links with governors and will have the opportunity to be invited to committee and Full Governing Body meetings;
  • Be a strong team member with good communication skills and the ability to motivate, lead and inspire colleagues;
  • Be inspirational in new approaches to Learning and Teaching and promoting a growth mind set approach amongst the children and staff; 
  • Have a creative approach to learning and a willingness to participate in the wider life of the school;
  • Be able to think strategically and take a lead role in school improvement;
  • Be heavily committed and involved in making links and networks with other schools within the community and beyond;
  • Be influential in our journey from good to outstanding.


The successful Deputy Head Teacher will be given SLT release time on a weekly basis.  Specific responsibilities are negotiable on appointment, but could include: developing the whole-school vision; developing attitudes towards learning and growth mind set; improving teaching and learning; safeguarding and Early Help.  The post will include some classroom responsibilities for the summer term, but this is to be decided on appointment.  Classroom responsibilities for September 2018 are not yet confirmed.
