Head Teachers Awards
Archie and Jude - Year 3 - For amazing understanding about fossils. They were able to use some scientific vocabulary and interpret pictures and real life examples. They were confident with their explanations and thrived on their achievements. Well done, boys!
Head Teacher 'Shout Out'
Riley - Blue 1 - I wanted to give Riley a shout out for his positive and kind behaviour at playtime this morning. I was on duty today and the Year 4 boys were playing football. Riley soon spotted that the Year 3 boys had lost their ball and they could not play. He came straight to me and said, "They can join in with us if they like" He sorted the teams and they positively played together until Mr Smith brought another ball out. One Year 3 boy said, "That was such a kind choice"
I was so proud of Riley and it really showed his developing maturity and a great choice.
It's Odd Socks Day!
Miss Thompson will post again later. However, if you want to find out more about why we are wearing odd socks today, you can look at the below link.

Why not have a quick look at some of the odd socks I have spotted so far, and see if you can spot your child's socks?
Mrs Bates
Miss Thompson later posted:
Odd Socks Day
Thank you to all the children who came to school today wearing odd socks in support of Anti-Bullying week. I was very impressed by how bright, creative and eye-catching many of them were!
Most importantly, the children could clearly articulate why Odd Socks Day is important and understood the significance of celebrating differences.
What a great start to the week!

A respectful thank you to five of our fabulous children at Greasley Beauvale. Today, they represented the 3rd Eastwood St Mary’s Scout group at the remembrance service and parade.
Feebe, Archie, Toby, Betsy and Oliver did themselves, the school and the scout group proud.
Well done, children
Mrs Bates and Claire aka Baloo cub section leader
As part of our commitment to make maths exciting and high profile in our school, our KS2 classes will be taking part in a friendly TTRS competition involving schools across England! The competition runs from 07:30 GMT Tuesday 14th November 2023 to 19:30 GMT Thursday 16th November 2023.
Children can play in any gamemode with every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, earning themselves, their class and the school a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours, subject to a daily 60-minute limit (see below)). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.
To support player wellbeing, there is a daily time limit of 60-minutes per player. In other words, each player can earn competition points for up to 60-minutes between 07:30 GMT and 19:30 GMT on 07:30 GMT Tuesday 14th November 2023 to 19:30 GMT Thursday 16th November 2023. Once the player goes beyond 60-minutes of play on that day, they will still earn coins but will no longer earn points towards the competition.
We are really looking forward to seeing how our children Greasley get on!
Thank you,
Miss Marvin π€πΌπ©πΌπ€πΈ
We are at the end of the first week back already!
After the floods on the Friday, as we broke up, Rainbow Rewards was short and sweet this morning. However, the comments were lovely.
Next week, we have two school targets:
1) Walking around school in a manner that shows we are always Ready, Respectful and Safe.
2) We keep the library clean, tidy and organised, which supports our Rainbow Value of Respect
Please see this weeks Newsletter! There is some important information on the Newsletter this week, but also some exciting things about the Christmas Fair!

If you have any questions please contact the school office.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs Bates and the team :)
Head Teacher Awards
Indigo 2 - Jake - For his work in English. He has been working super hard on his handwriting and has shown great progress since September. I also loved how the Rainbow Values have been incorporated into his writing. Very impressed!
Abigail - Blue 2 - For giving her time to help a friend with their maths learning and taking time to explain how to achieve the correct answers
Ruby - Blue 2 - For persevering with maths today and not handing in her book until she knew how to correct her mistakes
Jessica - Blue 1 - For amazing effort and progress in lots of areas! Jessica is independently using resources to help her which shows her determination to do well. A true superstar!
Peyton and Isabella - Blue 2 - For her excellent understanding and recording of mathematical vocabulary for addition and subtraction. She then went on to use this vocabulary to solve word problems
Priya - Orange 1 - For amazing writing about the Naughty Bus. Priya tried hard to remember to use her capital letters and full stops.
Welcome Back
Welcome back to the second half of the autumn term. We all hope that you have a super holiday together with your family.
I wanted to update you that Mrs Bowen started her maternity leave last half term. This was an unexpected departure from school as she went into labour early. However, baby and family are doing well and Team GB welcomes baby Cody to the team.
In addition, Miss Watson has started her maternity leave now also, and again both are doing well. Miss Watson had a little girl, and we also welcome baby Nancy to the team. We wish them all well and can’t wait to meet the new additions.
Miss Schofield was due to get married the weekend that we broke up for half term, but sadly her wedding was cancelled due to the extreme weather and flooding that we experienced on the last day of half term. We wish her well as she reschedules her wedding and honeymoon.
Thinking Schools and Weduc
As a school, I have shared that we are becoming a Thinking School whilst working with a consultant from Thinking Matters. This is an exciting journey for us and really focuses on how children think, retain information, and draw upon knowledge to further develop understanding.
As a result of this, we are reconsidering how we use Weduc on a Friday. Currently, we share a lot about what we have been doing, but this is now going to change slightly. We will start to consider what is coming up and what children can think about further for the following week. Therefore, teachers are going to start asking questions in their Friday posts in the hope that this gives the children (and parents) something to engage with. We would love to see the children using Weduc to respond to the questions and posts and giving thoughts and views. We would love to see posts full of answers to questions to support learning the following week and to enable effective talk in lessons.
If you could support with this, we would be most grateful. We can’t wait to see what the children share and have to offer.
Wrap-Around-Care
Wraparound care consultations and meetings have now taken place and we have made the decision to use an external provider. I do whole-heartedly appreciate parents’ worries and frustrations about the lack of current provision and the need for childcare. When many of you applied to school, there was a provision in place. However, this subsided and was through no fault of school.
We were hoping for a November start, but today we have had the last meeting with providers and any provision, starting in a new setting, does need to do a new Ofsted registration. This will take some time. We have not been able to rush this, and we have been searching for high quality provision, with the right offer (and prices) for our children and their families. That is important to us.
As all providers have to Ofsted registered, this is now the next step. I can confirm that registrations have gone in now and we foresee a January start. Fingers crossed!
The provider is very enthusiastic about working with the Greasley community and would also like to meet with parents before the provision is set up and starts. I will be in touch again soon when this date is set up with the provider.
We look forward to working with you further over this academic year, and I am excited with what we have in store. A reminder to read the weekly newsletters, posts and blogs to keep up to speed with exciting events and dates for the diary in the lead up to Christmas.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Bates
