Keep up to date with the latest News here.
This week, we have led two open afternoons in school across the different year groups. This was the second open afternoon this term, with a focus on end of year goals and a targets. It was also to see as many of you as possible before we break for the summer and provide an opportunity for you to discuss the end of year reports and progress data with teachers. It was also great to see you all sharing books with the children and looking at displays.
There was a positive turn out and it was so lovely to see so many of you. Thank you for coming to support your child and asking some good questions, whilst also celebrating the highs of the year.
I can't believe that we are almost at the end of the year already...how is that possible?!
Thanks again and see you soon,
Mrs Bates
Today, I watched the Year 2 children perform their end of KS1 concert to the grown ups! I was so impressed with their confidence and resilience and ability to shine in front of an audience.
The children did a collection of songs, readings, memories and narrations. All of these shared their memories, recollections and learning from the year. I was very proud.
The event showed all the grown ups how busy the Year 2 curriculum can be and how much gets squeezed into the day. Also, how much they have learnt, developed and matured.
I loved hearing about their learning from across the curriculum, especially about the 'Great Fire of London'.
As Sophia said, they have all turned into 'well-rounded' individuals, who respect and follow our school rules of Ready, Respectful and Safe and of course, the RAINBOW VALUES
Well done to the Year 2 TEAM (this includes all the adults too!)
A GREAT SHOW
Mrs Bates
Nate - Orange 1 - For great effort with his story about marshmallow monster. He did a fantastic job sounding out the words.
Eva - Orange 1 - For fantastic effort with her writing. Eva tried hard to sound the words out and even remembered some of her full stops.
Thomas - Indigo 2 - For unbelievable effort in maths. Exceptional mathematician, who recently achieved 103/110 in maths assessments. Has completed two whole times tables and fractions workbooks in a few days on his own. A true talent matched by effort. Well done, Thomas.
2023-2024 is going to be a busy BUT very exciting year:
* New children and staff
* Opal School
* Thinking Schools
* School swimming (watch this space!)
Busy time of year as we approach the end of one year and begin to think about the next
Mrs Bates :)
Such a super day today as children move up to meet their new teacher for September. They have all experienced new curriculum content, asked questions about moving on and shared any news or worries. Children have been in their new rooms and they already seem more grown up and 'ready'.
I loved seeing all the children in their new contexts and speaking to them about fledging their current class nest.
The Year 6 children had a great day doing enrichment activities and skateboarding was a HUGE HIT with Coach Jo! :)
Reception teachers have visited their new children in their current nursery setting and already getting to know the children who we welcome in September.
We are almost ready for academic year 2023-2024. Where has the time gone?
This afternoon, I had the pleasure of taking 10 Basketball players to a tournament at The Kimberley School. It was a great afternoon. We came third in our group. There were some super performances.
Thank you to you all for your amazing efforts. The match we did win was against the final overall winners of the tournament! However, they won more matches than us in total.
It does just go to show how talented our children are.
Well done, Greasley.
