Year 4
WELCOME TO
YEAR 4
Summer 1
For easy reference, here's a brief overview of the learning for this half term:
History Workshop – We are so excited to welcome a Roman to school on 21st May to teach us all about the life of Romans and give us some hands on experiences. Please remember to make your donation, if possible, to ensure the workshop can go ahead.
Maths – We will be continuing our work on fractions and mixed numbers and beginning work on decimals.
English – We will be starting a new story linked in with our History topic. This is a non-fiction text called 'Roman Soldiers'. We will be using our historical knolwedge and the text to write our own non-chronlogical reports and instructions.
Science - We will be starting our new unit, learning about animals including humans. This will start with learning about human teeth and completing a tooth decay experiment! We will then move onto learning about the digestive system.
RE - We will be revisiting Hinduism to answer the question "What does it look like to be a Hindu today?"
PSHE - We will be working on the topic 'diverse Britain' and using the 'No Outsiders' text 'Aalfred and Aalbert'.
History - We will be learning all about the Roman invasion in Britain and Boudicca's rebellion.
We are excited to use our Now Press Play headphones to have an interactive experience focused on the Romans.
PE will be on Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure children come in their PE kits on these days.
