Week Ending 4th March 2022
Head Teachers’ Awards this week have been awarded to:
Aaron – Violet 1 – For an outstanding attitude to independent learning. Aaron has more than met the challenge that myself and Mr Smith set him and provided some amazing facts about Brian Clough. You REDS!
World Book Day has to be the highlight of the week ….an update and photos to follow from Mr Leyshon soon! However, I have to say that the effort in costumes (both purchased, homemade and added props) were admirable and impressible. I had a few personal favourites, but everyone looked truly wonderful.
I visited all classes and reminded the children that it wasn’t just about the costumes, but the love of reading (both favourite and new books). The children were immersed in reading activities all day. Author talk, book talk, character talk and a taste of a variety of high-quality texts.
Every child also took home a free book of their choice and we also suggested book swaps in the future.
Another favourite part of the day was seeing the children’s imagination also come to life when they saw the creations of different entries for the ‘Book in a Box’ competition – so creative and very inspiring. We have some winners that will be displayed in the new library.
