Autumn 1

Welcome to Orange 1 and 2!

We are really looking forward to welcoming you into Year 1!

 

We have an exciting half-term ahead of us with a mix of independent learning and continuous provision every day!

 

English: We are reading the story of the Rainbow Fish and linking this to our Rainbow values. We will then move onto the Funny Bones story linked to our science.

Maths: We will learning about place value with numbers to 10. This will be 1:1 correspondence, counting forwards and backwards, reading number words, 1 more/ 1less.

History: We are learning all about the History of Nottingham: Robin Hood and Goose Fair.

Science: We will be learning all about our bodies, naming body parts and our 5 senses.

PSHE: We are starting the SCARF curriculum with the unit 'Me and my relationships'. This will look at classroom rules, feeling, friends and active listening.

RE- This half term we will be learning about Christianity, 'Who do Christians say made the world.'

Computing- We will be learning about online safety 

Art- We will be creating self portraits in the style of Roy Lichtenstein 

Phonics- We are revising Phase 3 phonemes.

 

Group reads will take place 3 times a week. Reading books are sent home on Friday afternoons and need to be returned on a Monday morning ready for the next group.

 

PE days are Wednesdays and Fridays. This will commence in our first full week in school.

 

All 1:1 communication will now take place over Arbor. We kindly ask that all communication takes place using this medium, as talking to class teachers on the door often makes it unsafe when children are entering/leaving school. We are aware that sometimes, in a morning, you may need to pass on a quick message, eg about illness/appointments that day – anything that requires a discussion please send via Arbor.
