Spring 2

Here is a brief overview of the learning for this half term:

Maths – We will be continuing our work adding and subtracting larger numbers. We will then be moving onto multiplication and division problems. You can help your child at home by supporting their mental arithmetic skills, eg 7+5, 9- 4 etc. Numbots is a great tool for this. Logins ins can be found at the start of your child's reading diary.

English – We will be starting a new story called 'The bear and the piano' by David Litchfield. We will be using our inference skills to delve deeper into the story and aswerinf comprehension questions about the text. We will also be using conjunctions to extend our sentences. In handwriting, Year 1s will continue with letter formation and ensuring all letters start and finish in the correct place. Year 2s will continue to learn how to join letters. You can help at home by reading your child's reading book when it is sent home on Fridays and encouraging your child to write eg shopping lists, birthday cards, a recount of something fun they have got up to at the weekend. If you do need any further support, please ask your child's teacher.

Science - We will be continuing our learning about living things and their habitats.

RE - We will continue our learning about Islam.

PSHE - We will be talking about 'Growing up' and the changes that have occurred since we were babies.

DT- We will be making pizzas and learning about safety in the kitchen alongside food hygiene.

PE will be on a Wednesday and Friday.
