Science Week

SCIENCE WEEK

The children have truly loved spending extra time diving into science this week during our whole school science week.  We have been very lucky to have had 2 special visitors come in to share their knowledge and experiences with us.

David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation 🐅🐆🦓🐘

Our first visitor was Mark, from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, who shared some incredible, eye opening facts about animals in Africa and Asia. It was almost as if we were there with the rangers, helping them in their conservation work as we watched clips from their expeditions. The children then applied their new knowledge of animals and their habitats by creating a labelled, landscape picture of a savannah. We will look into adopting an animal as a year group when we return from our Easter break!

Lawrence Vets 🐰🐕🐈👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

After this, we welcomed Beck and Nicola, two Vet Nurses from Lawrence Vets, who explained the roles and responsibilities of all staff who work there, as well as top tips on animal care. They shared photographs and artefacts for children to really immerse themselves into the learning, even bringing us in some PPE for children to try on! The children were thrilled to receive a sticker and certificate to congratulate them on their fantastic listening and superb wonder and curiosity!

Finally, across the week the children have been investigating the impact of water on plant growth, why not ask your child what they found out? 🌱
