The provision for Pupil Premium children takes a 3 tiered approach:
The main focus for all children, including those eligible for Pupil Premium, being quality teaching and learning in classrooms as part of an engaging and broad curriculum. As a school, we prioritise ensuring an effective teacher is in front of every class, and that every teacher is supported to keep improving.
The second tier to the Pupil Premium strategy is to offer targeted academic support. Targeted interventions and support is allocated according to school data and is research led on what has the most effective impact. Interventions include both small group and 1:1 sessions, with either the class teachers, teaching assistants, volunteers or external specialists.
The third tier covers wider strategies that address the most significant non-academic barriers to success in school, including attendance, behaviour and social and emotional support. These strategies support the wider well being of the child and family. This support can be offered both from school staff or through links with external providers and services.
Overview of Intervention & Support
In addition to first quality teaching and in-class teaching assistant support:
- 1:1 learning support in and out of class provided by Teachers and Teaching Assistants
- Service children: 1:1 ‘All About Me’ session termly.
- Specialist social and emotional behaviour support, the ‘All about Me’ programme with trained on-site counsellor. Specialist TA shared progress and programme details with Inclusion Senior Leadership Team meetings 3 weekly intervals.
- Emotional literacy sessions to support emotional health by ELSA trained TA.
- Anxiety reduction sessions run by Teaching Assistants trained in the CAMHS anxiety reduction programme.
- Early Help Assessment forms completed and submitted for external support where appropriate.
- 1:1 meetings with trained on-site counsellor offered to Pupil Premium children and parents where appropriate.
- Weekly Yoga sessions run by external provider.
- Teaching Assistant support during the lunch hour for emotional and behavioural support and positive conflict resolution.
- Financial Support for school trips and residential visits.
- Nurture room (Rainbow Den) set up and continued resourcing and development
- Nurture provision through school’s own Rainbow Den.
- Purchase of Lexia reading intervention software (50 licenses)
- Purchase of 1st Class@ number and TA training
- Purchase of Zumos for all children to access in school and at home for mental health support
- 1:1 online tutoring through the National Tutoring Programme

- Termly governors report shared at FGB meetings
- Cohort profile creation for PP children for data overviews – updated termly
- PP lead and PP link governor meetings 3 x yearly
