Blended Learning Contingency

Each week we aim to share key learning activities here that can be completed at home should children be well but unable to attend school during the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

It is a requirement that children view and attempt these lessons. Please submit children's completed via Tapestry.

PHONICS w/c 12.10.2020

This week we will be learning the sounds ‘h, b, ff, ll, ss’.
Practise saying each phoneme at speed, writing each grapheme and then using the phonemes to build words to read (using all sounds learned so far).

ENGLISH - w/c 12.10.2020

This week our English work will be based on the story 'The Little Red Hen'. There is short video to watch each day - click on the day of the week to find the video that you'll need.

 

Monday - To listen and join in with a story

Tuesday - To sing and map a story

Wednesday - To focus on a character

Thursday - To reenact a story

Friday - To tell a story independently

MATHSw/c 12.10.2020

Maths this week will be looking at comparing size, length, height and amounts.

OTHER LEARNING ACTIVITIES - w/c 12.10.2020

The work this week will be based on an autumn theme and retelling of a story called 'Nog's first Autumn'

Monday - (UtW) To explain the changes that happen in Autumn (collect items on an autumn walk)

about 15 minutes for the video lesson - you will hear retelling of 'Nog's first Autumn' too

Tuesday - (PSED) Think about what to do when you are feeling left out

you will need about 11 minutes to watch the video and then some additional time to talk about you could do when you are feeling left out - especially when at school in play situation with your friends (talk about it, play with a different friend, find another activity to complete)

Wednesday - (UtW) To experiment with mixing colours (paint and print leaves)

the video is about 12 minutes long - you will need some leaves, paper, paint and paint brushes (if you don't have paint, you could use food colouring)

Thursday - (EAaD) Attention to detail when drawing

this video is about 5 minutes long - you will need paper, green, yellow and black crayons or felt tips

Friday - (UtW) To create a collage (create a hedgehog)

the video is about 6 minutes long - you will need some paper, glue and the items from your autumn walk on Monday

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT - w/c 12.10.2020

There are no videos for this area of learning development. Below are some suggestions for activities that you could try over the course of the week.

 

  • practise throwing a ball at a big target (e.g. fence panel, hoola hoop etc)
  • practise hopping on one foot - count how many hops you can do on each foot
  • using craft stick tweezers (you will need to make them), how many pop poms (or any other small/light item) can you move from one container to another in a minute

   

  • make a pasta necklace (you will need any tube type pasta and string or a shoelace to thread the pasta onto)
