Class 4

Welcome to Class 4's webpage

We are Year 1!

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to come on our local walk.  Please could you be at the school Reception at 1 o'clock on Wednesday.

It is hard to believe that we have just finished our 3rd week of term. This week we have been learning all about the Queen and reading the book "The Queen's Knickers" which we have all found really funny. In Maths we have been adding numbers along a number line. We are getting ready for our Harvest Festival on Tuesday ( don't forget to bring your tins and packets).

We have a brand new class email address which is
If you do anything exciting that you want to let us know about please email us.

Well done Class 4! We have had a fantastic week. We have been making story maps and retelling the story of Funnybones. We acted out the story and then had a go at writing the story in our books. We thought about all the things that are being harvested at this time of year in preparation for our Harvest Festival on the 29th September (you should have had a letter about that tonight!). We have learnt a skeleton dance and the link to the dance is at the bottom of the page.

Week beginning 7th September
We have had a really busy and exciting week! All of the children have settled into Year 1 really well and are trying their best to make us "The Best Class in the School". We have been reading the Funnybones book and writing about the skeletons. In Maths we have been doing lots of counting and writing numbers. We watched a clip of the Queen as she celebrated 63 years on the throne. 63 seemed a very big number to the children - as one of them said "Even older than Mrs Chambers"! It was amazing how much the children had remembered about the Queen from last year in the Foundation class.

Our teacher is Mrs Tantum and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Elston.
We hope you are all enjoying the last week of your holidays - We are looking forward to hearing all about the things you have done and the places you have visited.

This term our topic will be "Best of British". We will be learning all about our country and the people and places that make it the BEST place to live.

In the mornings we will be doing our Maths, Literacy and Phonics work.  In the afternoons we will be looking at our Rainbow Curriculum.

We will be sending home some spellings for you to learn each Friday and these will be stuck into the Home/School Diaries.    We will also be sending some Homework each Friday and this needs to be completed by the following Thursday.  Please help your child with their spellings and Homework as this will help us too!

Please could you make sure you have your PE kit in school and that everything has a name on it!
