Friday 21st June

This week has been great and busy! This week we have been learning our songs for the leavers party called, "Rocket Man."  (And a few others.) We decided this week to squeeze in a few lessons of English and Maths- which worked out perfect! Of course we could do it everyday but we sooooo busy! And to add the cherry on-top, our school came back from district sports winning a 2nd place from about 30 schools! We had a few lessons about the song Titanium, stopping every few seconds to use our deduction and inference skills to work out what exactly is going on!

Happy Friday everybody! It's been a busy first week back for us all here in the Year 6 team! We have started new groups for English and Maths which will focus us all on our SATs targets for the next few weeks. Only 9 teaching weeks left - it's going to fly by!

English

We are continuing to revise our reading and GPS skills in English lessons and have been focusing our attention on the past and present progressive tense this week. Ask your child all about Rod Stewart's song 'Sailing' to jog their memory surprise

We have sent home a copy of the KS2 spelling words this week. We are asking children to focus on these at their own pace for homework instead of weekly spelling tests. We will then be using these spelling patterns as a focus for lessons in school. You can also see the lists below:

Maths

We've been looking at area and perimeter in maths of rectangles, triangles and composite shapes. On Wednesday afternoon, we took advantage of the lovely weather we have been having and took the children outside to draw their own composite shapes on the playground using chalk.

Check back over the weekend to see some pictures of us making a mess of the playground!! smiley
