Diary of the week:

Another super week at Greasley Beauvale Primary School. Not as much excitement following Children in Need, and I did slightly miss dressing up as Pudsey Bear, but the buzz from all the children has been amazing and I have a very positive feel about the progress being made in the different year groups.

Monday started with myself, Mrs Clarke and Mrs Barrowcliffe completing lesson observations to look at the quality of teaching and learning and attitudes towards learning in every classroom. We all spent the day walking in and out of classrooms feeling very positive about the provision here at Greasley. I was also so positive to see so many children happy, developing resilience and challenging themselves onto the next stage of their leaning.

Throughout the week, I have heard many Christmassy activities and practices beginning to happen, and I am very exciting about watching the Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 performances later in the term. This year, the staff and children in each group are leading the performances and I just can’t wait to see their faces and personalities shine during the performances: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”

I have also been very proud when showing round prospective parents for next year and dropping into classrooms with parents to show them what we are made of. Many of the parents have commented on the bright and friendly feel to the building and how well mannered, well behaved and welcoming the children are. It has been a great feeling to show off what we have on offer here, and to hear such positive comments from parents, who may have their children here with us in September.

Next week, I look forward to many events that are very exciting opportunities for the children of Greasley Beauvale Primary School. On Wednesday, I look forward to opening the doors to the year 3 parents so they can experience the art work in the year 3 gallery. On Friday, I am also very excited about taking 20 year 5 and 6 children, with Miss Busby and Miss Marvin, to the Christmas light switch-on at County Hall in Nottingham. An honour to be asked and a very exciting opportunity for the children. Another super link with the community.

Have a super weekend at this this busy time of year.

Best wishes.
