Thank you to everyone who joined us for the meeting on Thursday . It was great to see so many of you! More information regarding the phonics and Numicon meetings will follow shortly. The link to the phonics video is also at the bottom of the page;this demonstrates how each phoneme should be pronounced.

Our story of the week was

The children have also made a scarecrow by following instructions. We named him 'Pip'!
Our tricky words of the week are: I & go
In maths, we have been learning about 2d shapes. We have been building models and using our knowledge to name and recognise a variety of 2d shapes. How many sides does a square have? How is it different from a circle? Homework this week takes you on a Shape Hunt to help consolidate the children's understanding. This can be found in the 'Homework' section at the bottom of the page.

Our GoldBook stars for the week are Ted Miles & Oliver Shipley. We think you are super!

Please come and join us on Thursday 24th September for our EYFS Welcome Meeting. We look forward to seeing you all!

Another busy week in Early Years!
In Literacy, we have been focusing on rhyming words. This is a really important skill for your child to develop. Can they continue a rhyming string? Singing songs and reading rhyming stories will really help your children with this! We are also super busy with phonics; please continue to practise the phonemes at home with your child. We are hoping to run a 'Phonics workshop' soon to explain a little more in depth how your children are taught phonics. If you need any support in the meantime, please feel free to pop in and see us

In Maths, we have been matching the correct number to quantity. We learn through a variety of activities and use a range of tools to help us. Soon we will be introducing you to 'Numicon' a fantastic visual aid to help us with our Maths!

Homework this week is using fine motor skills. This is really important in preparation for the children to hold a pencil correctly and write correctly formed letters.

Well done Early Years on completing your first full week at school! You have all worked your socks off. Here's a little peak at what we have been up to this week...

Our story of the week was 'The Train Ride'. We used lots of instruments to recreate the sound of the train. We also painted our own train carriage!

In Maths we have been singing lots of number songs and focusing on number recognition. Can your child remember any of the number rhymes?!

We have really impressed our teachers in the dinner hall. Our table manners are excellent and the school dinners are scrummy!

What a great start your children have made to their Greasley Beauvale journey! We have had lots of smiles and are so proud of how well they have settled in. Keep it up boys and girls!!

Just a couple of reminders:

  • Please make sure your child has a water (not juice) bottle in school. It is really important that they are hydrated throughout the day.
  • All children are provided with a free healthy snack each morning (for e.g. apples, carrots, raisins etc).
  • Please ensure that your child has a P.E kit in school. Please make sure all items in your child's kit are clearly named.

It's nearly that time........

September is just around the corner and we are all busy getting foundation ready! The Early Years team are really looking forward to welcoming your children to their new class rooms. We hope that you have all had a wonderful summer break. Our first topic will be 'Holidays'  and we would love to see any photos of the children's holidays this summer. Feel free to email them to us, or your child could bring them in.

Just a few reminders for you:

* School starts on Thursday the 3rd of September; the day begins at 8.45.
* On Thursday and Friday the children will be finishing at 12.00. You can collect them from the main reception.

We look forward to seeing you all then.
Enjoy the bank holiday weekend;
