26th September

First off I would like to say a huge thank you to those of you who came to the meeting yesterday, it was great to be able to explain how things work in Class 7 and discuss any problems you may have been having. For anybody that wasn't able to make it, we have a pack of information which will be available from Monday, this includes timetables to information on what the children will be working towards this year.

We have been so impressed with how well the children have worked this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring using Scratch yesterday afternoon and have had a fantastic time playing basketball and tag rugby. In English we have been focused on using adjectives and conjunctions.

We have had a great response from the children's homework. Once again I would like to say sorry that it was not clear children had all half term to do the science. We will be setting one piece of English - which will vary from a writing task to a performance of some kind or a grammar to a word level task, a piece of maths - either on Abacus or a written task and every half term a topic or science task.

HOMEWORK UPDATE
We would like to apologise for the mix up over the homework. The children were not expected to do the science homework for this week as they only have to do one piece of science homework per half term. They can complete this at any point before half term. The children are expected to complete one piece of English homework and one piece of Maths homework each week.

Wow, what a busy and fun filled first couple of weeks of term! Both Mrs Barrowcliffe and myself have been really impressed how well the children have settled. The children have become really familiar with their jobs within the classroom and seem to be enjoying school - which is fantastic to see!

In English, we have been learning to write a perform poetry and we have seen some incredible filmed performances sent in from home - thank you all for those. In Maths, we have been focusing on place value - the value of each digit in the number. During science lessons we have been learning all about healthy eating, with the children learning how to create a healthy food plate this week.

Thank you for all your emails - it has proved a really good means of communication. The class email is class7@greasley.notts.sch.uk if you like to contact us.
